No no no, op, you’re completely missing the message. JUST vote. Nothing more. Just vote.
The implication being “what’s the point if you’re just choosing which boot?”
But like… that really actually matters. They’re never going to be on your side. So take the opportunity to choose your opponent. Make it a favorable matchup.
For a few years, and in the meantime, by consistently choosing the “lesser evil”, you ensure there is no political organization in power that stands in opposition to capitalism and you push the Overton window rightward. So they never actually attack the fundamental problems because it goes against their ideology, things continue to get worse, and the public starts looking rightward for a solution because there is no left option.
The Democrats moving rightward is a documented fact but even with that pattern, people are still like “just vote blue”. Trump was elected in reaction toward Obama, whose greatest achievement was a Heritage Foundation based health care plan. Now, a Heritage Foundation policy becomes lumped with “leftism”. Clinton embraced neoliberalism following Reagan. Etc etc
By not offering a real alternative (and every leftist org was already on the right side of social issues so not sure why people champion Dems on these. Jfc, dems took until like 2012 to “evolve” on most of them) to neoliberal capitalism, then fascist populism starts looking more appealing to parts of the public.
That’s right, the color and texture of the boot matters. You shouldn’t let these important decisions be made by someone else.
I’ll take the boot without a heel, those things would be sharp on my face.
Opponent implies one actually does something to oppose them.
What is favorable about Democrats’ genocide?
Here, I’ll pre-emptively boil down any answers you recieve to their chemical baseline:
“The fact that it isn’t happening to me”
But the boot is blue now instead of red, which makes it better
If the takeaway is red or blue boot doesn’t matter, go out and only ever vote for those who take zero corporate dollars. Oh, and also, vote every single time you can.
Standing on the sidelines and stating that the game is rigged is not a flex. Working to stop the rigging is.
I will vote for whoever took zero corporate dollars over whoever’s blue
but i will vote blue before red
0 corporate fuckery -> blue -> red
and where i’m from my vote doesn’t matter, but i’m still fucking voting
Can you stop a casino from rigging its games by playing in the casino?
Casinos are not structured in any way to allow their customers to affect their business strategy. Our government, at its core, is.
This is demonstrably wrong in reality and even in the abstract, a casino actually has more incentive to pay out than a capitalist government because a casino doesn’t have the power to stop people from leaving or kill them for organizing.
Voting in capitalism was created to fool everyone into believing capitalism is a democracy and it’s worked really well.
Exactly, vote for PSL.
Agreed. I’ve voted in every election since I was old enough, and I always vote honestly. I’ve also seen how feckless it is; it’s the least effective, but easiest means of change.
FPTP and gerrymandering did wonders. System working as intended
“change”
