Vertical tabs, tab groups, pwa apps, easier profiles switching (some of these are coming soon). Firefox is finally covering its weak points versus chrome.

I thought vertical tabs also landed this release. I can find them in the settings but I dont see it in these release notes. Did they land in an earlier release or smth?

      Yeah, in 136.0

I’d love for more advanced vertical tabs, i.e creating groups, nesting them etc. Also, profile switching is cool, but workspaces would be a game changer for me imo. Hopefully mozilla is working on these :)

Tab groups! Better late than never, I suppose. Can’t believe they did vertical tabs before tab grouping.

I have to say, nerdrage aside, Firefox’s interface right now is pretty darn sleek. I bounce back and forth for work reasons and Chrome is starting to feel… old.

@MudMan@fedia.io One of the good things about the order the features landed is that tab groups work well when using vertical tabs.

@MudMan@fedia.io I feel the same way about Vivaldi. It’s so busy, I prefer Firefox or Zen for the majority of my browsing right now.

Yeah, I was giving Zen a shot, but the new side tabs do pretty much the same thing and full fat Firefox is just so much more stable.

I still think a couple of UX things regarding the sidebar are cleaner in Zen, but it’s tiny nuances (like, the keyboard shortcut to hide/show the sidebar is nicer on Zen). Really not worth the switch.

And for me, having some OLED displays where I use browsers the ability to have the content be fullscreen without losing any of the tab access is great. Plus it looks amazing. Being stuck on Chrome’s multiple persistent horizontal bars is starting to feel… Internet Explorer-y.

@MudMan@fedia.io I definitely get it. For me, it’s the side panels and the split tabs that gives me the edge over regular Firefox on desktop, but they’re both good and I’ll use both browsers.
