I’ve never really used rename. It has different features compared to mv, though. rename has more options for batch renaming such as regular expression support, though the behavior varies by distro.

You can do that with the find command. Also xargs is a good one to know for stuff like this, but when commands have the capacity to work on a list already like find, you don’t need xargs. You can use find -exec rename -n with a regex perhaps. I’m not a linux system currently and can’t test a snippet, but I’ll check back later if the question is still open.

I’ve had the same observation before. They insist you’re there early, and don’t really care if they make you wait an hour or more past your appointment time. But if you’re there 5 minutes late? Appointment canceled, pay $50.

If you try unsubbing and it doesn’t work, then that fits. I just suspect a lot of people don’t even try. I’m just tired of having things I signed up for ant want show up in spam.

Most recently I ordered some merch from Atari and all of their mails went to spam, including responses from customer service, which is annoying because I thought they just never wrote back.

Not lately. My gmails Spam sections mostly have legitimate marketing and news emails that idiots have apparently reported as spam instead of just unsubscribing from.

It seemed pretty out of left field. Like, okay… I’m not clicking on any of that. No explanation of why someone would message me this and as I expected, it seems to have been some sort of widespread spam.

From reddit I think. No idea what the post is but maybe reverse search them.

Etsy I think. I saw some post where someone made one from the pattern and it came out 3x as big as they expected.

That’s what I do not understand. She does use home telephones the same way, on speaker, but with those she comprehends it’s not always in speaker mode and if not, to hold it up to her ear.

My mom has long been clueless and resistant about anything tech related. Years back I switched her laptop to Linux because I was so sick of all the stupid crap with malware on windows. We used to have to Fix her computer one or more times a month. With Linux, that went to zero, and the only issue was setting up the software to download images from her camera (this was about 2010). These days she has a Chromebook and is constantly convinced it’s “screwed up”.

My mother can’t comprehend how to use a cell phone without it being on speaker. She also doesn’t know how to switch it to speaker. If I hand her the phone in normal mode she holds it out in front of her and can’t figure out why she can’t hear anything.

I’ve definitely noticed people who challenge anything you say by asking for a source, but make tons of unsourced claims themselves.

To the point at least. The impression I always got was that it was meant to imply you’d have money by then and not want to pay taxes.

The people who told me that were 100% boomers. There’s that idiotic saying “if you’re not liberal* when you’re 20, you have no heart. If you’re not conservative when you’re 40 you have no brains” ok boomer.
