Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Drop OSS - an open-source, self-hosted alternative to platforms like Steam and Epic.English
2·3 个月前I guess because they are more mainstream, people are more aware of Steam and Epic than GOG.
Totally, I was just hoping for a shoutout. If they are pro DRM-free games, they are in an obvious position to promote the store that is… DRM-free

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Drop OSS - an open-source, self-hosted alternative to platforms like Steam and Epic.English
11·3 个月前I wonder if they plan to incorporate a moonlight server (or any form of streaming), so you could test a game without having to download it, so long as the admin host has it installed.
I know other tools out there do that already, but it would be nice if it was all in one. I’m also surprised they compare themselves to Steam/Epic when DRM-free is GoGs whole thing

Linux@lemmy.ml•What do you think KDE should focus on for the next two years? - Call For Submissions
7·4 个月前Often this is the correct pragmatic power user solution in UX design. Trying to solve it by default for everyone is much harder and will ultimately alienate some user.
But when people get bothered by an experience it is much easier for them to find the hidden setting that makes them happy again. It also preserves the existing experience, while allowing for greater customization in the long term.
Once a decent compromise is identified, that’s when it’s time to flip which setting gets to be the default.

If someone could help me figure out how to get my monitor res to be remembered when waking from sleep in Wayland, that’d be a dream.
My theory is that it forgets the EDID, since every time I restart the monitor and trigger a negotiation it fixes the resolution from 640x480 to native.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux is awesome at home, but aren't y'all forced to use Windows at work?
4·10 个月前I’ve never had to use windows at work except for some extremely rare moments, such as debugging a customer issue.
Always had a choice between Linux and macOS, and even if it was a requirement, I’d just become the change I wanted to see, show them all the money they could be saving and improve security demonstrably.
Does the 02 have a release date?

Linux@lemmy.ml•For Linux gaming (including DX12), is there a strong reason to choose NVIDIA over AMD?
3·1 年前I’m glad you mentioned knowing how to fix them. My server has hosted Nvidia GPUs for 15 odd years now, working great, and has remained stable through updates by some miracle.
Getting it set up was a nightmare back then though, do not recommend for the faint of heart.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Blocking releasegroups from Sonarr/Radarr [edit] or rather blocking malware regardless of nameEnglish
1·1 年前I agree, for folks that don’t align with common use cases something like Trash is great. But there are always common configs, in all things that the masses would benefit from. For example, with blocklists you often have users who want to block all ads, porn, only ads from large companies but not small businesses, politics, etc. Different strokes for different folks.
Same is true with Sonarr & Radarr, where you have users who prefer different things, like foreign content, subtitled content, audio quality, specific video formats, etc. Chances are there is a configuration that would strike a balance for the masses and make most users happy. Just like most users are happy with a general ad blocklist without having to think much about what it is or isn’t blocking.
I’ll probably check out Cleanuparr for my own needs, that looks like a step in the right direction.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Blocking releasegroups from Sonarr/Radarr [edit] or rather blocking malware regardless of nameEnglish
21·1 年前I appreciate the advice, but I’m not solely referring to the customization of filtering, of course it has the ability to do that, almost every comment in this thread is about that. The feature I am raising is about syncing community maintained txt blobs, Trash tells us exactly how to sync the guide with Sonarr/Radarr, but not without additional software or manual effort.
Trash may offer excellent filters, but they are often incomplete, and do not promote community involvement. A URL pointed at a single source of truth inherently would, this is a popular approach with blocklists all over the web. If a user wants to modify the list, and has to post to a single moderated source, everyone benefits. But currently as a user you either setup syncing orchestration or you manually copy Trash. Neither of which lends itself toward keeping the community up to date.
If you are aware of a way to have Sonarr/Radarr pull directly from a single source of truth and update itself, that would be great though.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Blocking releasegroups from Sonarr/Radarr [edit] or rather blocking malware regardless of nameEnglish

This kind of functionality belongs in Sonarr/Radarr imo, and not separate service(s)

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Blocking releasegroups from Sonarr/Radarr [edit] or rather blocking malware regardless of nameEnglish
8·1 年前Honestly we should just start a list we maintain, and then ask Sonarr/Radarr to offer a feature to pull from a URL of our choosing periodically. That way we can curate the blocklists as a collective rather than this manual bullshit.

Linux@lemmy.ml•𝐛𝐚𝐭: the tool to syntax highlight (almost) anything on Linux - Bread on Penguins
35·1 年前If you enjoy bat, may I also recommend you try:
- eza as an alternative to ls
- zoxide as an alternative to cd
- fd as an alternative to find
- fzf paired with fd for enhanced reverse searching and more
- delta for syntax highlighting pager for git, diff, grep, blame output
I’ve been using these for probably around 5-10 years / daily, without issue.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Homarr - A modern and easy to use dashboard. 30+ integrations. 10K+ icons built in. Authentication out of the box. No YAML, drag and drop configuration.English
31·1 年前Yea, this is a deal breaker imo. My code tends to be 10 to 1 comments to lines of code ratio. Configuration even more so.
jsonc/json5 exists for this use case, but few tools actually use it, yaml is far more popular
Same, I exclusively use Linux for gaming now that the performance is better on my machine in most games.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Spottarr: A modern spotnet client and index for your *arr apps.English
7·1 年前A spot includes a downloadable file and accompanying metadata and is intended to be shared with other users. A spot can be compared to a traditional search engine index entry. However, the difference is that it is user-generated and is intended to help people identify, organize, and share content.
The layman would think of it as a file. So music, movies, text, whatever.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Spottarr: A modern spotnet client and index for your *arr apps.English
12·1 年前For those who are unfamiliar with the Spotweb client for Spotnet:
Spotweb is a Spotnet implementation in PHP. Spotnet only shows actual Spots - spots are manually created by humans which categorize them and provide an image and description for the spot. You cannot compare Spotweb with for example Newznab or other such systems as its a moderated and curated system with manual intervention.
This makes Spotweb slightly slower for new content but should most likely raise the bar on quality - depending on the Spotters.
Spotarr is an alternative client.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I'm a 6'1" man with size 3 feet which means every time they measure my feet at a shoe store, the Brannock device tells me I'm not a man English
7·1 年前Glad you got it worked out, what kind of shoes did you end up buying if you don’t mind me asking?
My brothers feet are massive and he can never find shoes that fit properly. Mine are a bit wide, so I always have to get a size up to be comfortable, but I manage.
“So you’re telling me not to use the acid on this 75KG chicken, but instead render it, incinerate it, and compost it. Thanks for the help cleaning up this body… I mean chicken. Now hypothetically let’s say I have 100 hungry pigs, how small do the chicken bits need to be again?”
