Yes, good call out. It’s also good to get some oil on the gasket before installation.

The reason that an oil change should take time is that it takes a while for all of the used oil to drain out. That’s why commenters are recommending you do it yourself, because you can leave the car for 20 minutes to just drain. Then you remove the filter, and don’t be surprise if more oil drains out. Replace the filter and then refill with oil.
Quickie Lube places that promise a 5 minute change are either lying about the time or lying about changing the oil. You would also control how frequently the filters are changed. You don’t have to change the filter as often as the oil, but certainly every other oil change. I replace mine every time, but I recognize that’s probably unnecessary.
All in, the process will take you about an hour, maybe longer the first time you do it. A pro with all of the equipment laid out and a proper garage can cut it to 30 minutes at best.
They don’t trust you to tell the truth, why would they come to you for the results of a test?
Until you confirm that you have a working backup, your backup is theoretical.
Plex is still fine if you’re a single user. They’re starting to charge each user for sharing, which is bullshit but I guess they want to discourage sharing? Jellyfin is a fine alternative.
I ask for summaries and examples for things I understand well but struggle to explain. Sometimes it’s very helpful, and sometimes it’s just deranged nonsense.
That’s why I’m less likely to ask it to about something I don’t already know. How would I know if the answer is accurate or coherent? At least with something like Wikipedia, I can track down a source and look for foundational truth, even if it is hidden under layers of bias.
“I didn’t ask for a hint, I was just making an observation. Damn.”
I used to work in home automation, and we didn’t do any voice activated shit (or cloud based at all if we could avoid it). When customers would ask for it, I would point out that the most commonly spoken word to a voice recognition device is “Cancel.” Even when it works, it’s just a switch you flip with a special phrase. People want Jarvis, but they end up with a glorified Clapper.
Wow, I stand corrected. TIL thanks.
EDIT today I learned that the reports of witnesses and their inaction was grossly exaggerated by an unscrupulous journalist. So the following statement is almost entirely fabricated. My apologies. Comment left intact for transparency.
38 people in her neighborhood admitted to hearing her and choosing not to intervene. They all gave different reasons for not helping.
There was the horrifying story of Kitty Genovese in New York in 1968. Edit 1964
They’re both built on the reputation of their leaders. Good coaches recruit good players, making them look like better coaches. Good preachers gather more followers which makes their bullshit more believable.
The great irony is that in both environments, the ego of the leader is almost certainly over-inflated, and the institution would be just hunky dory without them. Penn State found a new coaching staff. The Catholic Church will elect a new Pope.
The people doing the cover-up will justify the lies by telling themselves they are doing it for the greater good, but really they just want to protect themselves.
Yep, for numbers, too. Like, I need two thumbs and bifocals to dial a phone number.
Yeah this is some not-so-subtle propaganda from our komrades.
If there was more demand for it, I doubt it would take decades.
I just watched the video in the article, and the slow refresh rate also makes the touch controls frustratingly unresponsive. I love the concept, and might be interested in the next generation of this device, but the poor responsiveness is a deal breaker.
That’s probably true for some men, and people tend to assume that other people think like they do. So I would guess the brother is telling on himself a bit there. But also, what kind of relationship is that? Who would want to live like that? Good relationships are built on trust and communication. If you need to play games to keep someone’s eye from wandering, that’s not a relationship at all.
That’s fair, but there’s a wide gulph between transient homeless and wealthy enough to pay all your bills and still travel the world. The overwhelming majority of people in the middle have to work full time to maintain their standard of living, and even the destitute will have responsibilities that prevent them from slinging a pack over their shoulder and riding the rails.
I agree that people should be encouraged to get out more and see more of the world, but that’s like telling people to eat more fresh vegetables and home cooked meals because processed fast food is unhealthy. People who can and do reap the benefits, but not everyone who would, can.
You could chime in that you grew up poor on a farm where your grandma’s garden was your only source of food, and that wouldn’t counter the point that for most people, fresh produce is either unavailable, too expensive, or too time-consuming to be a regular part of their diet. Likewise, most people cannot drop everything and become nomads hitchiking across the lands like fucking David Banner or Jarod the Pretender.
To put it another way, Travel is a luxury enjoyed by the unencumbered, whether by wealth or absence. It is not an option available to everyone.
The hell is a USian?
