How far up the stack do you want to go? Are you going to build a relationship with Amex and Visa and American Express? Are you going to pass all their certifications? Are you going to do all the kyc work? Going to set up your own PCI audit?
There’s a reason payments processors exist. The relationships you need and the regulations involved are complicated. It’s also not cheap. This is by design.

I think I worded this poorly. My point about being individually routable is that, that’s the only benefit IPv6 seems to have. Unless I’m missing something.

I disabled ipv6 across the board. I don’t want my internal devices to be individually routable from the outside. I don’t have a million devices. It’s complexity I don’t want.

Assume a security researcher finds a bug in wireguard that, if sent a malformed packet, it can crash the service. Then it would be trivialy easy to send that packet to the default port on every IP address and just crash everything for fun.
It costs me nothing to increment the port by 1 and avoid all that drama.


Security through obscurity is not sufficient. It’s also not nothing.
Immich released it’s first “stable” version. They mean to have fewer breaking changes and prioritize compatibility.

I just use wireguard and then I’m on my network. No exposing anything. Can’t even tell it’s there.
Great if you’re the only person using it, or can set it up for the non technical.
