Came here to say the same. This design (or accident) forces north/south traffic to use the arterials on either side of the neighbourhood instead of going through the neighbourhood.

I appreciate it.

Sometimes you have to just right it down to save time arguing later.

And looking at the placement of them in the article’s pictures, it doesn’t seem quite right to me. They look like they’d be easy to run into.
