just me
with that camera lense it better be capybaras that are about to fuck or the camerman’s getting mauled
I’ll take 8pm vacuuming over 8am vacuuming any day
istg i have to write those words into every reply i give. Do people even read the words i write? Can they read? Should i give up?
fuck it’s so hard to resist the urge to mimic (though probably poorly) the writing style of the book i’m currently reading shakes fist at neuroplasticity
can i see a flowchart of that please? it’s 4am
but forgot a button hole, we can still fight them, though the battles are getting harder
is occasionally going feral and unhinged still something that proves i’m a human on the Internet? or has my job been taken again? :(
Well yea it’s the same thing to me. The built in browser adblocker is great but never fast enough to block google’s (and especially youtube’s) bullshit attempts at trying to shove ads into our faces
nah i’d not trust that, if chromium itself gets invaded by forced ads no chromium based browser is safe
huh interesting! is it chromium based too though? I think at this point i’d mostly want to make a switch off chromium browsers with all the rumoured forced ads nonsense
nah it’s not rationalising, i really just don’t care. I mentioned it there because the second i mention Opera anywhere the first reply is always “but did you know it’s Chinese spyware?”
I like Opera’s features like workspaces, tab islands, built in adblock, built in vpn etc. it really suits my scatter brain self
I use Opera
(yes i know it’s “Chinese spyware” if the Chinese government really wants to know what youtube videos i watch for hours, what porn i browse, and what impulse purchases i make they can have it, i don’t fucking care, when i want privacy i use Tor)
anyway i use Opera, and despite the fact it’s been my browser of choice for over a decade i will switch to Firefox in a heartbeat if my ad blockers stop working and i’m forced to watch ads for over 3 days in a row (in uBlock devs i trust)
yup, precisely. This is the same story as trying to ban alcohol or drugs - people will find a way, and that way is going to put them at more risk than if those things were avaliable by legal means and properly regulated
bit of a futile endeavour tbh, if a kid with access to the Internet wants to see porn, they’re going to find porn. And if they don’t have access to the basic sources they’ll probably find a more dodgy, unmoderated, and possibly extreme porn than if their curiosity got sated by pornhub or something
it’s neither
yea precisely. Sound design is less about how it really sounds, but more about how you think it should sound + some flair to make it a show.
Fun fact! sometimes in movies when there’s a big fire sound designers will put animal roars into the fire sounds to add an extra layer of fear you don’t even realise your body is going to react to
I think this is more of a defence against scammers honestly, with a convincing enough scam you could make valve belive an account holder was dead and you’re a family member wanting to transfer their account to yours.
Hell, I saw my dead friend’s account message me in Russian, contacted support about it, and all they could do was remove the hacker’s access, not even lock or delete that account.
And how could they? Unless you have your full name, address, and other identifying information somewhere on your account (strongly ill-advised, obviously) Valve can’t cross check it with a death certificate and take action, for all they know you could be cooperating with the hacker or submitting fake information to “prank” your friend by getting their account removed.
Allowing account transfers would open a whole new can of worms.
Just write down the password and login if you know you’re going to go. I don’t think Valve under Gabe would have issues with that. Though I do worry for its future
that’s a very grim way of looking at goodness. Of course doing things you believe are making a positive change makes you feel good, of course helping your community makes you feel good, and it does feel nice to be recognised and known as a good person.
It’s a strange ambient idea in our society, that to be truly good you must suffer, and never find joy in the good things you do. Not to turn conspiratorial, but to me it sounds like a cope from actually selfish people who look at people who do nice things and think to themselves “they’re only doing it to be popular and feel good about themselves, why else would anyone do anything”
