Android@lemmy.world•Reading mode for website articles?English
6·4 months agoJust so you know, The Sun is a truly shitty horrible, lying rag of a paper - if you’re not from the UK, you wouldn’t know of course, so no criticism, just FYI 🙂

Unfortunately, that may be the majority of us.

81·5 months agoTo add to that, it’s in Australia and AU$2200 is about U$1500 / £1100 / €1250.

Android@lemmy.world•Did Android 16 mess up anyone else's text and object sizes?English
1·5 months agoOoh, I didn’t know about that, thanks for the heads up! So much better! 😁

Android@lemmy.world•Did Android 16 mess up anyone else's text and object sizes?English
2·5 months agoThanks, good to know it hasn’t caused issues for many people, at least. Never tried Grapheme maybe it’s time to give it a shot 😁

Android@lemmy.world•Did Android 16 mess up anyone else's text and object sizes?English
1·5 months agoYeah, I mean it’s not that things are outlandishly big, but the text on, for example, the BBC News app, or Sync for Lemmy are both now noticeably smaller than before and the battery, wifi and mobile data icons are noticeably larger (plus larger than the app icons at the other end of the notification bar).
Adjusting scaling to sort one issue tends to exacerbate the other.
I’ll just need to play around with it until I find a compromise. Such a pain! 😁

2·5 months agoPixel 6 Pro here. Glad it’s not had a widespread effect. Very annoying, but I’ll just have to adjust individual app settings to try and find a happy compromise.

Android@lemmy.world•Nova Launcher's Sad End: Founder Says Development Is OverEnglish
2·6 months agoI use Total too - I wouldn’t say it’s quite 1:1 as it’s not as intuitive, but in terms of customisability, it’s amazing.

Android@lemmy.world•Nova Launcher's Sad End: Founder Says Development Is OverEnglish
23·6 months agoYep - and I recall arguing at the time with one of the Nova people sent to Reddit to try and sell us on the idea that everything was just fine, and nothing would change, and hey, look over there, a huge distracting thing…
It was bullshit then, and so it’s proved. What a waste of a truly exceptional launcher.

Android@lemmy.world•The Definitive Android Launcher Comparison Table for those looking for an alternative to Nova LauncherEnglish
1·6 months agoNo problem 😁
Agreed, that’s exactly what I do too - I use icon swipe all the time though, so I’m confused why you don’t have it.
Admittedly, I swipe folder icons rather than individual apps, but it definitely works, here’s a quick video (link lives for 2 days): https://streamable.com/liybvg
EDIT - looking again, I can’t set swipes on individual app icons either, just the folder icons. Weird, never noticed that before!

Android@lemmy.world•The Definitive Android Launcher Comparison Table for those looking for an alternative to Nova LauncherEnglish
1·6 months agoIt’s a live wallpaper maker, it’s really good - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kustom.wallpaper
I use Total Launcher - it has up and down swipe gestures but also left and right. It’s a bit of a learning curve, much less intuitive than Nova was at its peak, but very customisable.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•People who urge crowds to burn down hotels full of refugees should absolutely be arrested. This isn't free speech. It's far-right thuggery. Also, you didn't beat shit. The French military did. English
4·6 months agoThis is the story:
BBC News - Lucy Connolly released from prison after race hate post on X - BBC News
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5yl7p4l11po?app-referrer=search
She’s since become a bit of a cause celebre for the hard of thinking right wing establishment.
EDIT
Because that story doesn’t have it, here’s more context and what she said:
In July last year, prompted by a false rumour that an illegal immigrant was responsible for the murder of three girls at a dance workshop in Southport, Connolly posted online calling for “mass deportation now”, adding “set fire to all the… hotels [housing asylum seekers]… for all I care”.
Connolly, then a 41-year-old Northampton childminder, added: “If that makes me racist, so be it.”
EDIT 2 - in fact, her exact words were this:
“Mass deportation now, set fire to all the fucking hotels full of the bastards for all I care … if that makes me racist so be it.”
At the time she had about 9,000 followers on X. Her message was reposted 940 times and viewed 310,000 times, before she deleted it three and a half hours later.
In October she was jailed after admitting inciting racial hatred.

That’s amazing!

It was. Still felt dumb though 😁
