I use resilio sync across my work and personal phones and I use it to backup my phones to my nas. No need to turn it on/off, it’s accessible only via secret key or shared link and it’s encrypted.

I know sync isn’t foss but it’s the best one I’ve found over the years and it just works.

And hdd/ssd speed. Honestly it’s more about the drive speed than the cpu.

You need to check yourself before you wreck yourself. Chrome has always sucked. I use it when something doesn’t work right with FF but with the changes being made under the hood, I’ll probably be using it less and less as time goes on.

As for F versus FF. I was shortening F-u.c+k. There are some bots roaming the fediverse censoring things.

To echo others here. Why the F would you do that? I’ve been running the nightly build of FF for years and have never had any issues. I am on windows for what that matters but still.

Where did I say anything about vm? I get very very few spam calls and androids dialer does a really good job of identifying the few calls that get through tmo as spam.

Here is my vm log, notice how few are actually there? I honestly don’t remember if/when I ever cleared any out from this phone number. My old ass direct line is on GV and it’s set to never ring.

Who is your provider? If they have an online toggle for more spam detection/blocking, turn that on. Alternatively you could move to another provider who does a better job at handling spam calls.

That still counts as an active number. Most providers these days have a spam blocking option, have you tried turning that on? I’m with tmo and get very few spam calls. I get the odd text offering to buy my house but I have my ways of dealing with them.

This might be a stupid question but I am so far out of the rom game that I have no clue. Does lineage or others support copying data over from a current phone either from stock or same os? I’ve been rocking pixels and nexus before it and it’s gotten so easy to move to a new phone with 90%+ of apps and data just being ready to go.

I’ve never had an issue but then again I don’t use it for much more than movies and TV. If sync thing supports qnap I might check it out but I’ve been using sync since it was launched (if not soon after).

Same here. I’m rocking a pixel 7pro because I wanted to upgrade but I have several other pixels in a drawer that still boot up and work fine. They are slow as shit and one of them is so old I don’t remember my pattern lock, but I had to use one for work temporarily a few months ago and it did it’s job until the replacement phone arrived. I was upgrading the 7 to a pro and giving the 7 to my wife because her phone had died out of nowhere and she needs one for 2fa for work stuff.

There is a place for all kinds of media for people to digest. My problem is with there not being text versions of most things anymore especially for those of us who aren’t actually looking to learn something new, we just want to know how many and locations of screws to take a laptop apart so we can fix it. Or which settings screen on a routers firmware does a specific thing. These days I have to watch someone go through the entire tear down or all of the settings and watch carefully for what I’m looking for.

For the record I went to a Montessori school and my mother taught it for decades. I am aware and open to various ways to learn new things.

You aren’t wrong. But, this format is taking over and I hate having to watch a video for information that I can parse easier when it’s text based. Everytime I’ve looked for schematics and a teardown of a laptop or other hardware all I find is videos that I have to scrub through looking for exactly what I need.

Definitely need to do more, but, consumers could choose android over apple. Apples walled garden bullshit is why the only apple devices I’ve ever had were a couple of old school ipods and various Macintoshs going back to the IIe.

It sucks moving platforms. I did it going from blackberry to android but with android I can buy any phone I want and it’s mine to do with as I please and plenty of phones have community support to keep an android version updated and secure.

It doesn’t solve the overall size issue but the latest versions of Android have a one handed mode that brings the notification shade and display down to a little less than half the screen.

Waze has worked in AA for years. No clue where you got the original idea that it didn’t or needed to made to work, it just works as a a supported app.
