That was my first thought when I saw it. “That’s something my dad would do to get past an inspection”.

IDK about that. I have messages just vanish from my conversation history in Teams all the time. I’ll go back and try to reference something I sent somebody a month ago and parts of the conversation are just gone. I don’t have that problem with email I can pull up stuff from a decade ago if I need to.
There is demand though, it’s just not as high. They could make a smaller number of them just to capture the people who want it. Same goes for all the other features that are hard to find on a phone anymore. I think a lot of people are confusing “lack of demand” for “the features they want aren’t available so they just buy whatever the corporations are jamming down their throat when they need a new phone”. I for one haven’t purchased a new phone since 2016 because there’s no option that has more features than my current one. If it were to break I would be forced to buy a new shittier phone that can’t do everything I want.
I don’t understand the obsession with thinness. My phone has a case on it and already is like 2x as thick as a current phone and it’s fine. If anything it makes it easier to hold on to and type on. While I don’t care about having a physical keyboard, there’s a lot of other stuff they could do if they didn’t care so much about making it as thin as possible.
I use WSL for cli stuff and I have Mint running in a VM for desktop stuff. I briefly tried dual booting but it was a pain in the ass and I ended up rarely switching to the Linux partition in practice.
Cheaper just to beat you until you give them what they want.
My opinion is content creators could host their own content and then links to these could be aggregated on sites like lemmy/reddit/twitter/etc for the purpose of discovery. This way one site doesn’t get to control the narrative by manipulating what videos people see and creators can monetize their content however they like.
They don’t need all of the data that’s on Youtube. The vast majority of it is crap.
I don’t think that was it because it was nagging me every day for a few weeks until I finally got a free weekend to deal with the updates. I have a ton of shit going all the time and restarting is kind of a chore.
Mine doesn’t reboot on it’s own and I don’t recall ever changing any settings to prevent it other than messing with the thing OP is talking about which wouldn’t let me turn it off. I get nag screens daily after a while but it never actually restarts. Maybe one of my applications prevents it or something.
True but it’s not a handmedown in that case.
This is my strategy. Most of my power tools are corded ones I inherited that are older than I am. This does require you to have someone to inherit them from. Unfortunately I can’t afford a house/workshop so haven’t gotten to use them as much as I would like to.
I go through my life trying to be quiet so as not to disturb others.
I can get 2 for that around here.
This comment made me sad.
When we were kids my brother and I met him once at a mini golf course in Florida. He was very nice even though we were assholes interrupting his family time.
Stop making up bullshit to justify it. It’s not a straight line so don’t say that it is. Words have meaning.
4 TB over my home network. 800GB download from a external server.
But you can get a mid burger for way less than $30
IDK, my housemates printer required literally 0 setup to work with my linux VM and I’ve never had an issue. When I print from windows it’s a pain in the butt sometimes.
