  • I can’t think of many examples where a postal letter will be so time-critical that it will make a big difference if it’s delayed 1 day (or until Monday if delivery was on Thursday)?

But I agree, it shouldn’t have to be like that. And how much paper-profit they make would probably be nothing compared to the benefits society gets (and thus benefits the country’s economy regardless).

  • You mean packages that are originally DHL, or what other companies? DHL is a bit special, because they have many different divisions.

Small parcels from DHL (Deutsche Post) are technically like Varubrev/Quickbreve/whatever name you have there. DHL in that case is exactly like PostNord, USPS, Royal Mail, etc, where they’re simply Germany’s national mailing division. PostNord in that case is following UPU’s rules about “parcel post”, and in return PostNord gets what’s known as remuneration (compensation) for the transport within Denmark.

But if PostNord DK is taking over DHL Freight or DHL Express deliveries…? That sounds really messed up in that case. Interesting how much they differ despite being in the same group.

  • So y’all have less services by default, and yet your side of the company is also losing the largest amounts of money? For helvede Mads 🫠 haha. Though on the bright side, I assume they’re still probably better than UPS or FedEx? If I have some home delivery from UPS/FedEx, I don’t even attempt to be at home… I already know that that their tracking will say “we tried to deliver you, but you weren’t home” despite them not even attempting to drive into my neighborhood.

  • None of the outdoors is on my property and as such they’re not allowed to leave it there even if I ask them to

Is that their explanation, or what you assume? The problem is usually that the seller specifically requested it be signed for. They even have keys to most apartment buildings, so they can even leave it outside your door or the actual building. I’ve had many PostNord home deliveries left outside my building’s door; just need to see that the package allows FlexChange and then request it.

(Or maybe you’re Danish? No idea how they do it there)

  • I don’t think she should be earning so much, but varannandagsutdelning does actually make sense with how few letters get sent (even though I’d also prefer daily delivery). But crazy that stamp prices have also basically doubled.

But just like with so many other public service things and agencies, Sweden is determined to make a paper profit. Vinstkrav. Would be cool if SJ for example was allowed to sell their train tickets for cheaper prices, but nope, they need to make at least 10% profit or something around that.

  • The source is this article.

There’s nothing in the article that says they refuse to disclose chat contents. In my own experience they often do so when receiving a proper request from governments, providing at least the last 24 hours of messages.

My comment regarding Roskomnadzor has nothing to do with encryption, but rather Telegram cooperates with them, and that’s why they stopped trying to block the platform. A little bit of reading comprehension would do you wonders.

if Telegram refuses to turn over the chat contents (which they do)

    Source?

Law enforcement can’t just eavesdrop on the conversation without Telegram’s cooperation

Why do you think Roskomnadzor gave up their blockage plans in 2018? And then made their own official government channels? “It’s technically difficult for us” has never stopped Roskomnadzor before.

  • most secure

Yeah because it’s really secure anyone can take out your cash via ACH or whatever by your account numbers on that piece of paper.

your account is still protected by the bank for any fraud

Your bank is required to investigate and such, yeah? And you will most likely get your money back - after a while - if their investigation determines it was fraudulent. But a long process that’d be avoided by having a safer electronic transfer system. And what will you do if the bank thinks it’s some friendly fraud?

Not worth it. I don’t even like direct debit. No one should initiate taking money from my account other than myself.
