Oh that’s awesome.
Oh that’s awesome.
I use the new PE version since it’s still maintained and has had something to fix any of my problems so far.
Hiren’s boot CD
It’s a small ISO with tons of utilities on it. It’s great for recovering data if shit goes really south. I always have one handy.
Edit: toss it onto your ventoy stick
Same - I’m very curious as to what it is and how it’s used.
I hate the jargon used in some of these app descriptions.
example: “Enhance workflow with integrated collaboration and intelligent software agents to automate your processes.”
WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU DO
Money isn’t too tight - I have a $250 Amazon credit right now to use on whatever.
I’d really prefer to upgrade the CPU because it’s already overclocked and still struggling. When I host a game like Space Engineers, I get massive lag spikes as it tries to keep up.
The CPU is just not enough for what I would like to do.
Yes, Plex transcoding is awful. Hardware transcodes aren’t possible on that build because I have nothing that supports it. The earliest QuickSync capable Intel chips are the 8000 series.
CPU and RAM are consistently >90%. It’s mostly qbittorrent doing that by caching files I’m seeding.
Game servers are mostly stable but Plex struggles if it’s transcoding (necessary due to video file types and who I’m streaming to).
Just double checked and the 13400 is 65W just like the 5600x, which has no iGPU. I know AM4 and DDR4 would greatly reduce the cost of this upgrade but I’d like this to last as long as possible for me.
I’d really like to utilize Intel QuickSync. Anything not capable of that is a deal breaker for me.
Exactly the same thing I did. Now I’m looking to upgrade my server PC cus it’s still running an i5-4690K and struggles if anyone needs transcoding.
I put Lubuntu on a Chromebook with only 16 GB storage. It’s a great OS for shit systems.
The problem isn’t so much that there are ads. The problem is also what kind of ads they’re playing. YouTube has been known to play inappropriate ads without vetting them - think of those awful mobile game ads with a heavy sexual tone.
This stuff also seems to explicitly target videos that kids might watch.
Tarkov is known for how great the soundscape is. I highly recommend using the SPTarkov mod to play offline though.
plex (on its way out) (media)
jellyfin (not yet migrated across) (media)
Any reason for switching? I am pretty happy with Plex, espcially how my friends can just open it and play my stuff.
It’s not the fault of the language. I just suck at programming.
I played Tarkov for a solid 3 or 4 months. The game itself is beautiful and raw. It’s got the best weapon modification system I’ve ever seen. The sounds are top tier, especially when you consider the realistic differences the headsets to muffle or amplify sounds.
The downfall is the other players. The net code sucks so bad and the cheaters are rampant. The game suffers a lot for this. The reason most battle royals have high TTK is because losing instantly to someone is a terrible feeling, so to prevent this you have a ton of health and shields to at least give you a fighting chance.
Tarkov doesn’t give a shit about that. You can spend 15 mins putting your kit together and loading into a raid just to be one tapped by a rat with a mosin shooting SNB. All that work into putting your kit together is wasted and now you’ve just donated your kit to wherever loots your body.
The SPTarkov mod is the greatest thing to ever happen to Tarkov because it got rid of the worst part of it: the other players.
You have to set a goal for yourself and find ways to achieve it. I want to build a castle - What materials do you need and how do you get them? How can you get them faster? Can you automate the material gathering?
It gets even crazier in modded Minecraft.
Rimworld, at the later hours of a colony, becomes more of an idling game. Mods make it even more so by making your pawns and defenses insanely overpowered. My late game colonies usually have 5-10 brawlers that absolutely shred everything.
I just set mine up to be as close to RIF as possible. I love it so far.
