Definitely sounds like it could be real. If I had to guess their mounting a drive (or another partition) and it’s defaulting to read only. When restarting it resets the original permissions as they only updated the file permissions, but not the mount configuration.
Also reads like some of my frustrations when first getting into Linux (and the issues I occasionally run into still).

Who likes the casting choices? I think I’ve only heard criticism on the casting.
You don’t have to use the app, the website is fine. However, with dominos if you aren’t using one of their coupon “deals” you’re overpaying for their food.
Their whole gimic is how the “coupons” save you money, but it’s not fast food prices without them.
That’s like 50% of all tip calculations nowadays. It’s really obnoxious and feels like it’s trying to make you feel guilty for tipping an appropriate amount, but taxes and service charges aren’t part of the service.

You can also set your browser to desktop mode. For some reason viewing things from a “desktop” is okay, but God forbid you view it from your phone.
Even if they paid them there are a lot of things being done here that could be illegal, hence why they immediately shut down the VPN after someone found out what they are doing.
Not to mention how highly unethical this all is. If you read the articles, there were multiple people FROM Facebook that questioned the approach.
There are obviously ways that this kind of research could be done ethically or legally, and your right that people should be empowered over their data. That does not mean a large company abusing it’s knowledge and power should be legal.
My one complaint about my new vehicle. I can basically control everything from the steering wheel, except the A/C. For some reason that needs to be weird touch controls.
I had the same exact thought the first time I saw her. They look surprisingly similar.
It does, but it basically reloads the app when switching. Which, if I recall correctly, means no notifications from the other account and really slow swapping between accounts. When I had to use multiple accounts I would use the app for one and a browser for the other.
I get your point. I don’t know about OP, but I hadn’t seen a similar thread, but I usually browse all so easily miss posts for specific communities.
Also, I’ve found search on Lemmy hit or miss. The federation aspect of everything makes search sometimes difficult or confusing. For example, what community would most likely have already provided an ELI5 post and how would it have been phrased?
Not OP, but the point of asking for an ELI5 is that sometimes you don’t even know where to start. For example I clicked the link you provided and only have more questions as I don’t really know what people mean by display servers, etc.
Sure I could look everything up and try to understand, but the hope is someone in the community might provide a better or faster summary than what can currently be found online.
I mean they are fundamentaly different businesses. Additionally, given demand for flights, airlines know they’ll sell their seats regardless of configuration, because you’re primarily buying transit not an experience. However, for venues, they seem to believe that single seats won’t sell (and I suspect that’s backed by data they’ve collected).
Also, to be pedantic, restaurants do have stipulations about the quantity of steak you buy, it’s just broken down by Ounces. If they only sell 16oz steaks you probably aren’t going to be able to order a 10 Oz steak. If you wanted 10oz you’ll be stuck with an extra 6oz exactly like with the seats.
That’s not an apt comparison and while I definitely think it should reach a point in ticket sales where they turn this feature off (about leaving single seats), we both know that people would absolutely leave single seats all over the place if they could (I do it when I go to the movies).
Im also fairly certain that this is analytically driven and been shown to cause less tickets to be sold, which is most likely worse for everyone (not just ticketmaster/the venue).
There are things to call out monopolies on or hate for big corporations, but this is an instance where it may actually be a better overall outcome.
Not the person you asked, but I watched it, then went back to watch the anime again, and it just feels so much better. While I think they did a good job of adapting it, I think some things just work better when animated. All of the crazy moves and characters just don’t translate well to live action.
I feel like it’ll be the same if not worse for mha. There are a lot of stylistic choices that I just don’t think will carry over well (I mean look what marvel had to do to all the superhero costumes to make them feel more “right”)

Miracle Sudoku is also the best sudoku app ever. Incredibly difficult but extremely rewarding when you solve one.

A odd side note, someone was pretty clever and found a way to port the steam version to ios and Android well before the official port - https://retrohandhelds.gg/how-to-install-balatro-on-android-and-ios/. I’ll admit to having used this to play on my phone over the summer, but definitely bought it again once it hit the app store.
