Just how AI works. It generated the text “How can I assist you with your…” and then randomly decides the next word is “financial”.

I tested out a Deepseek model the other day. It took one minute to generate text and used up all my context space in one message. Local consumer models and “small” server hosted models are probably different classes because for my home pc it was a big performance downgrade.

7B models have been very good for about a year now. Lumimaid is my current favorite but I have to quantize it one step too far since it’s an 8B. Noromaid was the best one before that

Local AIs are making increasingly good progress but by the time they got to ChatGPT 3 quality, ChatGPT itself had already moved on to version 4 and then o1. They’re probably not going to disrupt the market until someone matches the latest ChatGPT with a 7B size model. Might happen in a year or two.

NVIDIA is tanking because everyone is now looking at them and thinking “hey maybe ai doesn’t need warehouses full of graphics cards after all”. NVIDIA sells less product => their profits go down => their stock’s perceived value goes down.

My grandparents from one side of the family left me nothing, and the other side left two weeks rent. I know the direct descendants come first but at least give the grandkids 15% or something, it would have helped so much. We’re all working twice as hard to afford half the lifestyle our parents had
