The measurements, even the palm to feet ones on big machines in medical settings with handles, are based on a known level of how much human skin conducts electric currents. I’m part of a genetic group that I’m missing one of the 5 types of collagen and so my skin conducts electricity differently and the impedance machine gives me the exact same 44% BF reading regardless of my actual weight. My doctor had to tell me that impedance BF measurements will never be accurate for me so I have to have a DEXA or skin fold if I want to know for sure. This would have been fine if I hadn’t already spent years believing those fucking devices that thinking that even though I was losing fat, I must be doing something wrong be the impedance scale didn’t change as they were “scientific”.

They aren’t that accurate for the whole population, and we don’t actually know what percentage of the population they are accurate for because no one has bothered to check.

Fucking infuriating! This happened to my 4’11" bestie because her husband is 6’ 6". They have been called out in public so many times and had to provide they are 14 months apart in age. Funny when they were 15 and 17 but now It’s been happening for 20 years!

My power company found a new and infuriating way to fuck with me. They send every e-bill with a required payment of $0 and then the regular balance but my bank auto-pay only reads it as $0 due today and ignores it.

So the bank says it’s the power company’s fault, the power company claims to have no control over it. Oh and they don’t send paper bills any more (although they send me a paper report every month shaming me for stressing the grid by charging my electric car) So you have to remember to go online and look up the bill and pay it on their awful $5 transaction bill pay instead.

I’m upset about this but I’m way more upset to be finding out about it from Lemmy instead of from my school district or PowerSchool directly. My Pennsylvnaia school district hasn’t said anything about this.
