I mean, I specifically like GTA because it allows me to rack up 4 stars and brutally and violently murder POS LEOs until they give up cause I’ve trashed their forces and they don’t have anything heavier to send at me.

I would be happy to see the same done in real life, but I doubt the outcome would be anywhere near similar.

I used to even spend hours on Assassin’s Creed just gutting cops, stealing their rides and running over thugs until I saw another set of cops to rob. Then I’d kill them, and take their ride, and…

Fuck the police!

Anything that is just local hardware can be saved or copied to an encrypted cloud drive of your choosing, via VPN if that’s what you want.

You don’t have to use a security cam system that hosts the cloud storage, or acts as a middle man between you and a live feed.

There are local systems that can host remote access portals too.

These things existed before things like ring or wyze…

Well, I grew up with knowledge of cable pirating in apartment complexes, VHS recording of retals to share or rewatch or watch later, and tape and CD sharing and mixing…

So as far as Im aware pirating was always a easy, viable, and economically savvy choice.

I did explore Netflix for a brief time 15 years ago, but the quality of their service degraded heavily, and I still pirated alongside my Netflix membership, as their content was always limited. And I shared my member ship with others, then later occasionally used a membership that was shared with me, until Netflix broke that system.

Private DNS service.

"The name “Zoox” is a reference to Zooxanthellae, a marine organism that, like the Zoox robotaxi, depends on renewable energy and is able to maintain a symbiotic relationship with organisms in its surrounding habitat.“

Actually kinda cool, but appropriately dumbed down to be usable in modern coversation, “hold on a sec, my Zoox just pulled up.”

I don’t know any pirates, but I sure do know a lot of people that share copies of files on the internet.

I run a matte screen protector on my S25. Installed it day one. Matte screens are great!

I was considering a nextpaper or ePaper device when I got the s25, but I wanted something more top of the line, but with a more paper like screen. I found the matte screen protector works great at softening the screen, making it more paper like, but the device isn’t low end, so I can throw anything at it and it just works.

I’ve had some rather disappointing experiences with lower end stuff.

She should just donate all the profits going forward, and focus on making sure anything on the platform is legit consensual sex work and not people being forced into it. Not that I think that happens a lot, but she sounds like she’d be up for improving the system to better know for sure, and provide better support and resources for sex workers in general.

App doesn’t appear to work at all.

Might work with the floating button, but I won’t activate it to test.

The accessibility option it needs is unclear, it just sent me to the android accessibility setting tab with no idea what needs to be done there, if anything.

It didn’t replace my default assistant when I tried to change it.

Circletosearch says to double tap the status bar? Why? That doesn’t do anything?

I didn’t see anything sketchy about the app, but it doesn’t appear to be functional, so meh. Maybe try again after they’ve worked on it some more.

Well, I originally saw both Blair Witch and H20 played from really dark and messy VHS copies of theater recordings… And man, let me tell ya, they were both way better as low quality cams that HD movies!

I intentionally watch bad Horror as cams now, when I can, even decades later… It really adds to the experience!

Does this mean epubs won’t stop and require a new page to load at the end of chapters / new file segments?

It’s one of my biggest gripes switching from mobi single file ebooks to epub multi-file ebooks.

Should just append the next file and allow the flow to continue.

Been waiting for such a change for epub reading apps for many years.

Update: OMG yes, it works! (Not by default, scroll mode must be opted-in first via 3-dot menu)

Now I can maintain the same scroll while reading habits I do for online content, PDFs, and Mobi files while reading ePubs! Bout damn time!

This is now my default ebook reader everywhere!

They aren’t a public service, their goal is maximizing profits, the devices they manufacturer and the customer base they farm are just tools to that end.

Fairphone, on the other hand, is a Benefit corp, if I remember correctly.

SOs HP laptop borked Win11pro OS, wouldn’t load or recover. Tried reinstalling clean but Win11 installer can’t see SSD. Driver loading during install results in install crashing error.

Linux, here we come.

Though these new phones and most Samsung devices generally have high quality, durable, and reliable hardware, the devs are making pretty crappy choices about software changes and some hardware choices are just disappointing… This screen, the camera bumps, the old and outdated battery tech.

Samy is falling behind and mucking things up. They’re only likely to stay relevant because of their long standing history.

I mean, I wanna like their tech, but mostly I don’t right now, even though I used to love it… I can see business pros continuing to use their devices, but I don’t want an iPhone clone personally.

Why do they last more than a year?

Why do they exist at all?

I prefer standardized OS wide appearances that are respected by all apps. The only skinning I want are Dark Modes or Mini Player modes (for media players).

Superficially it looks pretty good, but there are some details I didn’t find handy. For $400 I expect to be able to switch roms and batteries, and for the storage to be decent (not sure what kinda storage they run).

If it tests out to be durable enough for 4 years it might be worth the $400, but that’s a gamble for those who just have to have a keyboard and don’t care about much else.

For comparison, the other device linked here (Comet) is $250ish and has some swappable parts, including gaming controls. And I think that’s overpriced too. Considering neither are tested and known quality tools.

Well, for $50 I’d buy it, maybe $10-20 per addon depending on complexity. For $200-250 it’s way too underpowered and far too untested to justify.

Neat concept though.

How’d you get that pic of my cat?

I even have a futon cover that looks like that. It’s brown, but if the photo was desaturated or tinted it could look the same.

Interstellar appears to do that, but I hated it, so I’m not gonna test and verify it for ya.
