I am shitting on Hyprland because DHH, who is responsible for the mess that is Omarchy, is in bed with Vaxry and they both enable each other. I did not say that Hyprland has any vulnerabilities. I said that people who have a hard on for aesthetics do so because they are compensating for a lack of substance most often. I was specifically referring to this privilidge escalation fuck up.

Almost all programs that implement some sort of GUI the way XFCE or dwm does are for power users, it’s called being on Linux. The exception here is maybe the latest GNOME release. Hyprland is also for the r/UNIXPORN crowd.

That’s fucking delicious. I am so not surprised that people who focus only on aesthetics (by that I mean those behind omarchy and hyprland) would fuck up the most basic things where substance has any importance. Aesthetics is for idiots! I will never want the Linux desktop to take over because of coolness, I want the software that attacks important questions to take over. These reactionaries have proven themselves to be utterly incompetent once again, and they will continue to prove their incompetence because they all lack insight and think of themselves as being god’s chosen ones.

It’s a vanity project. You know how Notch bought a Bugatti, this is the software equivalent.

Look, all developed countries, with only a few exceptions, experience declining fertility. This lack is partially made up for up by immigration. However it’s not occurring at a rate that creates strain on the systems you have mentioned. Numbers are indeed still declining, albeit slowly.

This is a non-sequitur. Israel is a colonial project forced upon the Levant by Britain and the US. The places crying most about immigration have historically been the most egregious colonisers. Man made climate change is scientifically well-established, the concept of human races along with the idea that some groups of h. sapiens are by virtue of geographical origin deleterious to another, are both misconceptions.

Scientists don’t oppose climate change because it goes against a state of nature, they oppose it because it very concretely threatens livelihoods, which can not be said about immigration.

You know who needs that money? Open hardware projects, everything around LoRa, projects that promote tech literacy, programs for accessibility, the Linux Foundation itself, list goes on. What needs it the least? An ass arch install with pre-installed programs.

I get what you are saying, the Russian revolution was a success despite sharing a feature that was a great hindrance. I think though that saying “X has always been like this” has a somewhat ahistorical quality to it. There is simply no good knowledge of the future.

Where I am from there are like 8 different leftists parties laying claim to the same chunk of people. There will be one big and relevant party in the end, but getting there has the danger of a bajillion parties competing and creating noise rather than directed struggle. XKCD standards meme

I would tend to agree on the class party aspect, but as with anything there is an outward motion. The most effective struggle doesn’t start at the higher levels of abstraction. Egoism comes first, not in the Stirnerian sense, where people make sure they are not deported by ice, where military service is eschewed, where when arrested the fifth amendment is kept in mind. The next stage would be tenant unions, trade unions, more organised forms of struggle. Then education, reading circles, discussions, talks and so on. I see the party as the capstone of all of these working class interests. Ultimately it becomes the expression of our species’ interest towards the end of class struggle.

It’s not about the wealthiest 0.5%, the oligarchs as you’d call them. All of this revolves around the struggle against capitalism. Workers (about 60 to 70% of society depending on the definition and employment rates) against the bourgeoisie (~15% including petit bourgeoisie).

Joining a union or creating one is one of the most subversive things one can do in this day and age. Propaganda for unions is very effective at leveraging the class schism in favour of workers/socialism.

Just don’t a union that advocates creating large weaponry or represents law enforcement/servants of the state.

Proper unionising makes capitalists piss their pants. I have read a ton about politics (to my detriment – rip mental health) and it seems to really give you the most bang for your buck.
