I wouldn’t be overly harsh.
Some logos/images/designs are simply hardwired to the function that they can’t remember where the apps are if the logo changes. I’m pretty sure I’ll be the same if I use something for 30 years.

Yeah you’re missing the point that the mind blown is just ironic.
The entire point here was to demonstrate that the “security” features of these DEs are not implemented by the DE but by the underlying components such as PAM, and you can just ignore the DE until you have the basics fixed.
What’s the point in having a super duper secure login screen if I can bypass it by booting from a USB stick for example.

The entire point is that your DE has NO security features at all, those come ALL from the underlying system such as PAM for example, managing the authentication and such.

I think you missed the point. Switch the tty to realize your de is irrelevant in regards to security, because you don’t even need one…

It’s a risk reward analysis and not strictly a 1:1 hour pay relation. No one guarantees you any positive outcome here.
Best case I get the fee removed after a short conversation.
Worst case, I have to engage in a long drawn argument still having to pay full afterwards.

best case was a simple mistake and I just have to ask politely. This can be considered very unlikely in this case because the recipient has a dedicated section for the fee, indicating that they’re not going to make any change to the bill. So the risk reward is highly leaning towards the worst case as the expected outcome.
That would be consequent, but usually it’s not worth the trouble.
I’d rather leave with 20 quid less than wasting 30 min of my time.
