Wow. This took forever. But thanks I guess.
This is a really good point. I haven’t really used any ultrasonic fingerprint readers so I have nothing to compare it to. I will say that on my pixel 7 it was more finicky and I had more false readings.
I would imagine that different people use their phones differently. At work I use my phone mostly for picture documentation which I use frequently but with a shortcut. So I don’t have to unlock my phone all the time and when I do I’m usually wearing gloves so I’ll use the pin instead of the fingerprint reader anyway. As a result very rarely am I using the phone when my fingers are wet, covered in grease or oil, etc. Cuts and burns do have a detrimental effect on the accuracy of my fingerprint sensor but they also don’t happen enough on my fingertips to be a serious problem for me. As a result, I’m not having a lot of the same problems frequently that other users who use their phones under these circumstances do.
While I don’t like the under screen fingerprint reader (getting flash banged at night by it is a problem), and I prefer the back of phone fingerprint readers we used to have, I know at least two people that have had their phone replaced repeatedly by Samsung for the side button fingerprint reader failing.
I also have a pixel tablet with the power button fingerprint reader and it’s awkward as hell especially with a case. I can’t say that I’m completely against the in screen fingerprint reader (on my pixel 8 it works pretty much all the time), but I will say I definitely have a preference for other options. The placement of the power button also means I wouldn’t be able to use it with both hands (the fingerprints from both hands), in the event that my dominant hand isn’t free or the fingerprint I normally use is damaged etc.
I hope that’s all it is. I can upload one of mine to my computer in about half an hour and see what the aspect ratio is. Give you the proper dimensions. But I don’t know how valuable that will be since it’s kind of a hassle and you’re looking for an on phone solution.
Your original way still works for me on the pixel 8. I have to tap the picture to make the floating menus go away but then I can still screenshot it.
Action launcher.
Comparatively though the pro and regular size of the 7 do not give me hope. The 8 is fine but I haven’t been reading up on the 9 rumours yet.
What kind of sensor does the pixel tablet have in the power button. How does it differ from the one in the pixel 9?
I seem to remember motorola having a phone awhile back (2016?) that had basically a magsafe battery pack that would just lay on the back of it. And a speaker and such. It was gimmicky given how uncomfortable the naked phone would be to hold in your hand, but it was cool that such a thing was possible.
Is this the same sensor they use on their pixel tablet?
If the size of the pixel 9 is good I’ll upgrade. Other than that I’m good.
It is until you end up having to blacklist zelle because your banking information was used to defraud someone. I actually had my account broken into, funds deposited from zelle and then all available funds removed from my account in the space of about an hour. Went to pay for something the day after and had to call my bank’s fraud department. They tried the same thing with a second account of mine but it was flagged immediately when they tried to use the same login credentials (they weren’t remotely the same). So no zelle for me. It’s permanently disabled by both my banks for security reasons.
When you ask assistant to set a timer it may hang up. Most of the time that works (for me). Gemini can’t do that or couldn’t do that about a month ago when I was seeing articles about it. There’s key functionality of assistant that Gemini is just bad at. Ask it to launch an app for you? It will bring up a search of app launchers. It will not launch Gmail.
It’s free with my YouTube music sub. I was grandfathered into the cheapest price from the Google play music launch. I like a lot of tech and science videos and I watch YouTube for that. Worth it to me.
They were my go to for a long time for good charging cables and dongles. Don’t know what happened with them. I do know they got delisted from online shops.
I’ll still shop there if I can use trade in credit for old tech. But I literally only spend the store credit I get back from old tech. Its usually something that’s several years old and worth like $40-50, and I spend it on something I was planning to buy anyway. I’ve tried reselling that kind of thing on eBay. It doesn’t move because nobody wants a windows 7 computer or an old pair of earbuds from 7 years ago.
That’s illegal. They were trying to force you to abandon your job as retaliation. And even if they have no paperwork to the effect a good lawyer would be able to prove it was retaliation. But of course they don’t pay enough for their employees to actually retain a lawyer. Shame, cause the payouts can be really good.
The custom ROM would need to have stylus input and probably some other things. But it is an android device so…
