Thanks, looks like I need to start saving, my Nokia 6.1 with Lineage will probably need replacing withing a year or 2.

Nice to read your experience with the fairphone. We’re looking at it as well. It’s expensive, but can at least be repaired when something breaks. I’m curious aboutt the custom roms though, as they are my main requirement, next to costs of max €100 per expected year of usability. (And as phone, it should be usable for a while)
At home, nagios, at work colleagues. (I finally escaped the admin rat race)
Same here, especially as it was the Samsung S2 of my employer.
However, when you don’t try (prefferably on an expendable device) you never learn.
As long as the earth isn’t flat, nop. 😹
Sell them and buy low budget low power consumption disks that would fit my purpose.
Enterprise-grade usually has enterprise-grade power consumption. From the power saving alone you can buy nice stuff.
I’m a Linux user since '94, the 1st Android phone I got (company phone) was rooted, the 1st one I bough ran Cyanogenmod and I even developed Cyanogenmod for my 2nd tablet. (1st was crap) yep, free software user. (and kind of developer)
I’m running domoticz with an rflink interface for my rf433 devices. No clue if they support ESPHome, but you can check. It runs confined to my network.
Technology isn’t to enable users to do what they want, but to let corporations do what they can get away with.
I get DNS errors on apkpure. I got the same on my own domains when bind changed how you need to setup dnssec, or finally depricated a very old method for DNSSEC. (I ssetup DNSSEC a long time ago) This invallidated my domains as they were unsigned. It looks like this. I need to check dns logs, but it looks the same as a dns outage.
Argh. But be glad they didn’t add tomato. Also technically correct, but you wouldn’t want it.
On the shell you can use the command
adb shell mount
to see all mounted filesystems. This inclused the filesystems of your work profile. It could be required to run adb as root, then you need to enter
adb root
first
It was wet and cold (10°C) during the day, dry and warm (12°C) at 23:15 when I walked the dog yesterday. It hasn’t happend very often that in winter the night are warmer.
I have to admit, we had a christmas 2-3y ago where we worked in the garden, as it was the only dry and warm day for months.
I’ve rooted all my phones since the 1st in '12 (Samsung S2) and I’ve been running Cyanogenmpd/Lineage since the 2nd. (Thag was the 1st of my own, the S2 was a company phone)
Now I’m running Lineage on all used devices (messing about with a Samsung A13 to get rid of all bloatware beforenit gets used). I’m not 100% degoogled, but I got rid of most junk. I still have some apps which Inpaid for, but I’m replacing them one by one. When that’s done, I’l degoogle the devices.
Pets give so much joy, but alas, they are with us a short time. Spoil her in the hours you have left together.
I already had to say goodbye to 4 cats, 2 dogs and countless guniea pigs. They all are special and they al, had a good life. I’m sure many more will follow (we still have 4 cats, 1 dog and 3 gunea pigs), but I’ll try not having later pets outlive me. That would be cruel. (We already had 2 dogs that outlived a total of 3 owners and 1 cat that outlived 2)
Nokia 6.1 Bought when released, still in use today. I tried Samsung A13, but that’s in disude until Lineage or another rom is available. It’s the only phone that survived 1-2 years of use, ever. (Apart from my indistructable Nokia 6130)
According to Wikipedia it’s based on google authenticator. Is it known how much google code is still in there?
I love custom roms and even developed for CyanogenMod and LineageOS. However, that was for Samsung, Nokia and Motorola. Those roms have loads of bloatware. The Pixel has no or little bloatware.
When going without Google, custom rom and f-droid is the way to go. With gapps, the advantage will be that you get longer updates, as custom roms usually get more updates. That is, as long as somebody is interested in the device and developing for it.
Also, when rooting, the official roms usually refuse to update, a problem that doesn’t exist with custom roms.
Same. Made the mistake to buy a Samsung A13 assuming itnhas a rom. Alas, just the 5G, I have the 4G. Bootloader is already unlocked though.
Then that’s misleading to the customer. When you buy something online and have paid for it, it should be collected and delivered.
When you need to pay a tip to get the omployers/contracters of the company to do business with to do their job, there is something terribly wrong with the situation. Tips should be for complementing employers with their good/excelent serice, not to ensure they have something to eat while the company earns enough and underpays their staff.
That’s how an open market should work, companies paying their straff living wages and charging what a product/service costs to be viable. When the product/service is good enough, the customers will come, when it isn’t, they go out of business, freeing employers for work that is values correctly. The US market of underpaying employers and required tips from customers looks more like modern slavery/forced labour.
