Firefox@lemmy.ml•You wouldn't sideload the Bypass Paywalls Clean extension
171·3 months agoSharing the link again since the person who shared the link is from an instance that doesn’t federate with Beehaw: https://gitflic.ru/user/magnolia1234
I used to love it but now I love using Readeck way more!

Piracy@lemmy.ml•How to block Stremio peers from qBittorrent?English
1·6 months agoThank you for the detailed reply.
I am indeed considering using the peerbanhelper. I will install it and see how it works.
I didn’t say DHT was strictly something specific to Stremio. I mentioned it was what was being suggested by people trying to solve the issue, but I indeed didn’t find anything to support it.
I changed the upload choking algorithm, thank you for the suggestion.
I am aware of !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com but I’d rather avoid the AI slop.

Firefox@lemmy.ml•Firefox could be doomed without Google search deal, says executive
2·7 months agoHave you considered that maybe you could have worded your comment in a different way without just saying it was “stupid”? You are correct about Librewolf but there was no need to reply it that way
Where is Disco Elysium on all these lists? 🤨
Blasphemous 2
I do not agree that the second is better than the first after playing one after another, but that might be because the way the store evolved made the bosses less interesting to me on the second game.

Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•Monthly update on the FOSS "Ladybird" browser engine
15·9 months agoThe person that had the PR merged wasn’t a maintainer, they just attempted to make the change using a different phrasing.
I remember they wrote “corrected grammar errors” and provided arguments and the PR got merged. Here is the PR. They even posted on Mastodon about it at the time.Edit: It seems now they require contributors to write documentation in gender-neutral language. However, the main dev still complains, to this day, how hard it is to run an OSS project while being “apolitical”.
It seems you care enough to make your first comment on Lemmy!
What the heck people, would you interact with people like this in person?
I use Librewolf as my daily driver, however it breaks a lot of websites. We had to purchase plane tickets yesterday and to use regular Firefox.
I was super hyped for Ladybird but there was this weird thing regarding pronouns on their docs (last year?) and no matter the outcome, I just decided to not follow it anymore.
I have Chromium installed for things that break even on regular Firefox and for comparing websites when I need.
On mobile (grapheneOS), I am currently using Firefox Nightly, I think because it was the only one I was able to install extensions from custom repositories, I am not sure if that’s still the case. I know I can (and should use) Vanadium, but I always miss my FF extensions when I do it. I play a lot of things so I love when I am automatically redirected from Fandom to a Breeze wiki instance, for example.
I never tried any other browsers of the list, and honestly I am very curious on the differences between Librewolf and Waterfox. Wasn’t able to do the research by myself yet.
Sima (Simona Vetter) quotes “Being toxic on the right side of an argument is still toxic, […]” while being toxic
If you are replying with “isn’t this the guy” it means you didn’t bother to read the post, which also removes the merits of you questioning if what he is claiming is fiction or not.
But people on HN provided context and it indeed seem he was stalked and harassed, but through his VTuber persona and there was even a GDocs document with the details.
Edit: His VTuber persona is Asahi Lina

Gaming@beehaw.org•The PlayStation Network outage proves PC gamers were right to resist its mandatory sign-in requirement
3·9 months agoThe difference is that if you have your files you still can play the games if GoG goes under, while steam games will be unplayable because they need to communicate to steam (or have steam offline on your PC). I heard that steam drm is easy to remove but I don’t have much knowledge in that regard
I was fine with the wallpapers until the AI rocket

Linux@lemmy.ml•Asahi Linux Lead Developer Hector Martin Steps Down As Upstream Apple Silicon Maintainer
492·9 months agoDamn, Linus really went out of his way to say:
How about you accept the fact that maybe the problem is you. You think you know better. But the current process works. It has problems, but problems are a fact of life. There is no perfect. However, I will say that the social media brigading just makes me not want to have anything at all to do with your approach. Because if we have issues in the kernel development model, then social media sure as hell isn’t the solution. The same way it sure as hell wasn’t the solution to politics. Technical patches and discussions matter. Social media brigading - no than\k you.
I don’t know why but even if I am setting my own wallpapers I still get to see the stock ones (when booting, etc), it pisses me off because it is clearly AI made and it seems the community around eOS likes them and even make worst ones on their forum
If you don’t mind AI slop wallpapers every time you upgrade your system. I can’t wait to get rid of eOS on my desktop and just use regular Arch
