I purchased two 12 TB HDDs last year when they were on sale and wow am I glad I did so. I joked how they’d last us the rest of our lives and now that might have to be true.
And Catrick said “Mew! Mew! Mewwww!” for the bowl was half empty and he feared his people were soon to starve, but the Lord descended amongst them and in their generosity filled every bowl with a bounty of Tuna and Scallop Feast.
The Lord commanded the cats to scratch not the rug or the furniture, and to only shit in the box in the living room, and in return promised their bowls would never remain empty.
And it was good, until the next day, when this was all forgotten.

How weird! I ran two Windows VMs with USB and GPU passthrough as my work and gaming daily drivers for about six years. Now I run Mint and Bazzite with the same setup. I’m not going to lie and say I didn’t have issues, both Windows and VM related, but I never saw one even vaguely like that.

I was thinking a “poorly aimed” bottle rocket “from a neighbor kid”.

Same, it’s great. Battery life is extended, the fan isn’t screaming, and I have great process continuity between devices since I’m usually connecting to a central point.

I assume the spiders would have died, and now you have delicious, brined cooking bananas!

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

Same here. I have no complaints about the service and it’s easy for my tech illiterate family and friends, but I’ll switch as soon as they try to charge pass owners for new features.

This looks great! Yet another container for our poor home server.

If you want an alternative, lab label tape is a bit pricy but is super durable, comes in fun colors, doesn’t leave residue, and sticks for practically forever.

Yeah, this thing is super inaccessible. Damn you, Gates!
You nailed it: I inspected the grub.cfg on the install media, which gave me the required parameters to get my hacked together install partition working. After that, it was really easy!

Unfortunately no, it’s an SSD (post updated) and it’s soldered in place. Plus this thing is the least accessible non-phone/tablet device I’ve ever seen. I’d need to use a heat gun and a few prying tools to take it apart. That’s why the USB controller remains unfixed, I’m more likely to cause more damage to it.

That’s brilliant! I got it to work, but the lack of functioning USB port means my future recovery options are limited. I’m installing this with a barebones linux install ISO, just in case things get weird. Thank you!

Mr. Rogers was better than we deserved.
If I were a single man, this would be a huge draw. Bring me your weirdest cuddle-kicker-lickers, your fuzzy, somewhat abusive little sons and daughters.

I suppose you and I have different notions of what defines smart. Being “brainwashed” into supporting something that someone of even middling intelligence can see is overwhelmingly stupid suggests a lack of the most basic critical thinking skills, which I would not say suggests any notable degree of intelligence.

As someone who did both of those things, I caution you to be sure not to conflate educated with intelligent. I have met many very well educated, astoundingly stupid people in academia and industry. Some of the most educated people I’ve met were as dumb as a sack of hammers, they just had the right mix of personality traits and privilege to help them succeed in a system that above all else requires opportunity, dedication, and time.
100% right on for me. It took me years, YEARS, to get my mother to where she would check if USB peripherals were plugged in before asking me to come over and find out why it was broken. Even the occasional slight complications with Plex get her to where she doesn’t use it for months unless I fix it for her. Jellyfin just ain’t happening with her.
