  • My 2 cents is that you usually need an unlocked bootloader so you can load xposed and get privacy apps that spoof or block certain permissions per app. That is the unconditional indispensable killer feature for me. Sure, using this stuff isn’t 100% bulletproof but I’m at the very least making my information more expensive to harvest and at most making it so that governments and corporations have to hire actual/better hackers to steal my info.

  • Android ftp apps never work. It’s also a huge pain and borderline impossible on some distros to get mtp over usb cable to work and even when it does work it barely works. Most phones don’t have an sdcard slot so you can’t go that route either. And I’m definitely not using Google drive because they’ve on purpose tried to make it impossible to go any route other than that and fuck Google.

My solution? I made a php page with a file upload so I have to upload my files via php. It’s the only way. It’s still easier than using the USB cable if it actually worked though. Luckily there’s no way Google will ever find a way to patch this out.

Transferring files to the phone involves using the same upload button just from a pc and then I download them from the “view uploaded files” button which is a page that autogenerates download links to a page.

  • My neighbor has a cat that looks kind of like that. He will slap you in the face if you don’t pet him sometimes. His method of dealing with rowdy dogs is to just lay there and dare anything to touch him. He tells you when he is to be let inside or outside he does not ask. He could probably win a fight against a bear.

There’s this couple up the road that has a cat that’s somehow even bigger than him but it’s a lazy inside-only cat.

  • Every time I’ve ever owned a non gpu laptop, it’s like I’ve always had to bring along either another laptop or a gaming console when on longer term trips or temporary moves. I don’t care that gaming laptops are 0.2 inches thicker which somehow makes them 100% impractical to most people. I’d rather only have to bring 1 device with me.

  • People have already made lots of good replies but here’s my summary:

tmux is a terminal multiplexer. It allows multitasking in command line only environments. For example if you have to do a sudo apt upgrade but don’t want to leave your ssh client logged in until it finishes, you can run it in a tmux session so it will happen in the background even if you’re not logged in.

To start a new session, type “tmux”

To view running sessions, type “tmux list-sessions”

To switch to a running session, type “tmux attach-session -c N” where N is the number of the session.

To exit a tmux terminal and go back to the main terminal, do ctrl+b and then press d.
