I have been using linux with a 1060 for 4 years almost 5, and it isn’t that bad now, tho you need to make a lot of compromise!

At the beginning I experiencing a lot of graphical glitches! Like screen flipping when using an app that used a lot of gpu power or app going black after doing soo!

To this day on that pc I still experience black bars on the sides of apps and as even stated by doitsujin (dxvk creator):

Low D3D12 performance on Nvidia Pascal (and older) GPUs is expected and likely won’t improve much. The hardware has a bunch of limitations that make it very hard to extract good performance. Turing fares better, but only AMD actually runs reasonably well right now.

And all of this on xorg to be clear! On the other hand I have an amd laptop with an igpu where I can safely say my experience was almost flawless!

As a 1060 owner I’m gonna tell you this is probably the case only for newer gpus!

The 980Ti as stated by the Dirk’s comment use Maxwell architecture, I’m not able to find any end of support date on the site, so I’m not sure when they will drop support.

Will there come a time that i will not be able to properly use this card with linux and run (modest games) games on it?

Unfortunately you don’t need to wait to see this happens, because it’s already happening right now, indeed dx12 games have a lot of problems running on this older cards on linux, and I myself experienced this with my 1060 first with cyberpunk 2077 and after that with resident evil 2 remastered.

Because the open module is only for Turing or later GPUs, or Ada, and the open module is available for those since 2022 so it’s not that big of a news.

For now they didn’t share nothing about it!

Tho in the roadmap for plasma 6.5 (https://community.kde.org/Plasma/Plasma_6) you can find:

• Union theming system tech preview
• plasma-login SDDM replacement
• Wayland picture-in-picture protocol support
• Rounded bottom window corners
• Location services KCM
• Global shortcuts found by KRunner
• Automatic brightness adjustment on devices with light sensors

I’m not placing blame on the Linux Foundation, Linus, or anyone else for that matter. However, I believe that if Linus has publicly endorsed the use of Rust in the kernel, that decision is already largely set in motion. On the other hand, if the community collectively opposes the integration of Rust with C and no action is taken to address these problems, and everyone say no, then there is little to no reason to make the initial statement.

Much of the work being produced by Rust developers seems to struggle, often because it’s not made in C and because of maintainers saying “No I don’t want any rust code near my C code”.

I recognize that there are various technical factors influencing this decision, but ultimately it was the creator’s choice to support it.

I have a Elite controller v2 and I wasn’t able to pair it on my laptop with arch, indeed I had to follow this instruction on their wiki https://atar-axis.github.io/xpadneo/#troubleshooting

Use a Windows 10 computer on the same Bluetooth adapter to pair with the controller. It must absolutly be on the same Bluetooth adapter, i.e. the same computer (can be inside a virtual machine with Bluetooth passthrough) if it’s an internal Bluetooth adapter, or the same Bluetooth dongle. Then, you can get the pairing keys and install them within your Linux Bluetooth system.

Tho if you watch carefully on the xpadneo wiki, if you want to pair a xbox elite v2 controller with bluetooth you first need to pair it on windows with the same bluetooth card to be able to use it!
