I mean I was being sarcastic. He’s gonna be just fine. He will live better than 95% of the population. He was the head of a company valued at 50+ billion. This guy is not being paid less than 300k. Him being fired isn’t going to change his life style in any dramatic fashion like it would an average person.
I mean the guy was easily making gobs of money. I don’t think he needs anymore money. Did he make less than others? Maybe. But he wasn’t at the bread bank looking for handouts.
I disagree. It compiles answers in a nice easy place with no ads. Change an int to a string using c# and 9 times out of 10 I’m in and out. I can feed it my code and it corrects it. Is it perfect? Nope but it beats being berated by experts
Woa woa. They caused him emotional damage. He deserves more money /s
haha. Part of the reason I like Linus is he does impractical expensive things but still votes for competition and knows what the average Joe/Jane budget is. The alternative video of the cheapest laptop is a good show that he can see both sides.
Buckets is good. Does require some setup for automatic import. You can also use the simplefin bridge if you want something automatic. Does cost though if you go that route
Counter point. I would wager people are more productive scrolling 5 minutes through a Facebook post then taking a 30 minute coffee break talking to various coworkers. I would hate this. Also if you’re a developer how would you research something? No stack overflow? No access to forums to solve particular problems? Not sure this is sustainable.
I think the argument boils down to: Can a person who writes down their passwords in excel and calls chrome “the internet” use it. The answer is not yet. It’s better than it used to be but they is still a lot of work to be done. Typing commands in terminal is an actual non starter for my parents. In fact I would argue I don’t want them to be typing any sudo commands in terminal they got from the internet.
I know the scale is different but I’m surprised more AAA companies don’t take note. You don’t need to have to most polished game out the door but the fundamentals DO need to be there and you can iterate and make money.
SteamDeck is awesome!! I’m playing steam games and emulated games side by side. Such a great experience. My biggest complaint about the deck is battery life but I can play anything from Super Mario 64 to TOTK. The I can seamlessly switch to Stardew valley with mods. I hope Valve keeps the completion fierce because it’s an amazing idea and piece of tech.
100% agree! TOTK is amazing but it’s a diamond in a sea of garbage it feels like. As I get older I feel like I have less and less time to play games I don’t really like. So many are grindy and samey. Indie space blows my mind. Stardew Valley is basically one guy… Like how!!! You have millions in AAA and you are getting absolutely trounced by the indie crowd.
I’m kind of tired of triple AAA games right now. So much crap out there. Not sure if it’s an issue of sucking the gaming industry dry or what but buhhh. There are outliers but it’s pretty exhausting… however emulation has never been better. I downloaded some OG Pikmin, Mario, etc and been playing through them and having a blast. Such an interesting time that a raspberry pi 4 can play a ton of the oldest games for “free” and the new stuff kind of gets forgotten about in 6 months.
RimWorld. It’s amazing what people can do from QOL to whole new factions or weapons. Amazing and the dev is very helpful during updates to try and not break mod support. Just blown away.
Also using plugins like camelcamelcamel can help with this. Shows you a graph of history for prices
