I used to use Subsonic, but it’s become too outdated for me sadly. I switched to a fork Navidrome which updates a few times a year and enjoy the improvements it’s been providing. I use it with the mobile app Symfonium and love that they are both improving the API to add additional features and options over what Subsonic offered. I run it on my Synology in Docker so you should have no issues either.
Sadly, I do order from crap places like this more than I would like to admit. Key these days to keeping semi low prices or get more food for the price is to have an account and order from the app. You can see all the deals and pick one that may work best for you. Some places are better than others. Most of Domino’s is a scam because the deal price should just be the real price. It basically penalizes people who don’t go out of their way. Good luck next time!
Where I am from everyone used Venmo… I never wanted it, I had PayPal forever due to ebay I think in the 2000’s so why did I need another service that did the exact same thing as PayPal and it’s even owned by the same company! Sadly, I lost that battle and caved. Idk why everyone said let’s use venmo or why it got big, but I’m stuck out of convenience for others now.
Personally, I love Zelle the most since it’s a direct transfer from bank account to bank account and available immediately without the 2 day wait like the other services.
Everything I do is manual, I don’t really have duplicates unless I get singles then get the album once it releases. Even then, unless the single comes with extra bonus tracks (seems to be a lost past time, never see this anymore) I will delete the singles after.
Here is the forum post I originally found years ago to setup music picard to tag multiple genres, which is the only setup that I have that took extra effort and not just use out of the box defaults.
I have a library that’s been growing for about 20 years now. I don’t think I got too serious until around 2009, which is when I discovered music servers to host my library and quickly realized how bad its structure was. It took years of me getting folders done correctly followed by then working on tags. Automation scared me to much since the results were not always 100%. Once it was done I have kept a system to keep it that way the best I can.
So for me once I get new content I use the app tagscanner to edit everything to the way I like, then I drop them into music Picard were I found a tutorial online a few years ago to set it up to just edit music genres. I found the one thing I never got right was music genres so finding this tool was incredible. Took months to run large sections of the library though. Now I got every track labeled with up to 5 genre tags. Once that is done I change folder names to what I want, drop them into my music directory folder which is root > artist > album (don’t care about year since it’s tagged). Scan music into my musicbee app and if any are missing covers I right click and tell it to find them. Then do a scan with navidrome to add it all there.
It’s only a little over a year old by now and even the first release was better than most of the stuff out there, but what it is today makes it better than anything I have ever used before on my phone and that includes premium apps like Spotify. At this point, I can’t even think of stuff I would need anymore, but I can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
Another note, the developer also created yatse, which I used over a decade ago as my remote control for kodi. Also equally as awesome as this is. He is very good at what he does, haha.
I currently use Navidrome as well, but I really don’t use smart playlists like that. For me, I use Symfonium on Android, which offers a ton of options and is incredible. In all my years of using a personal server to host music, this app has been the best by a lot. As for desktop apps, I don’t use them much, but when I do, I use Musicbee, which also offers unlimited customization if you’re willing to put time into it. It used to have a subsonic plug-in, but I have no idea if it’s still active. I just use the local file location and treat it as its own entity. If the subsonic plug-in still works, it may allow you to do what you want since everything seems possible in Musicbee from my experience.
I’m sure I had a lemon, but I think I had either the first or 2nd gen phone and it broke within 6 months. I had it in my hoodie pocket and I felt it vibrate so I took a look and it went into boot loop. Sadly I did not turn on developer mode so I could not get access to it or wipe it and the reset wouldn’t work either. Essentially it was wiped and I lost everything. I also don’t remember why but they did not allow the warranty either. Good news was it was a work phone so I did not pay for it. It was the only one I tried and I will not go back. I enjoy my Samsung.
Honestly, I would love to believe everyone here, but I remember Netflix last year with eliminating password sharing and how everyone lost their collective minds about it. I thought dam Netflix will really get it this time, then it turns out Netflix was right and they actually gained subscriptions from doing it.

I actually found the beta program in the Samsung members app after looking online, but since I don’t use a carrier (Google number and wifi only) it barked at me anyway. Oh well guess I am waiting.

I am super excited regardless of the risk of another middleman. I feel like I am the only one who doesn’t use an iPhone so this should shock them once I can try this out. I have an apple ID but really nothing ties to it that’s personal since I am not an apple person. I would be more concerned with whatsapp since I use that way more to communicate and probably have had a few things through the years sent that shouldn’t have. I do try to delete it right after though.
Wow that’s still active? I remember getting one when they had a kickstarter way back and realizing quick that it doesn’t matter how nice the hardware is if support is non existent. Glad to hear they are still around and I am guessing the community is much larger these days. I’ll have to see if I can dig my original model up from somewhere and see what I can use it for these days.
I have been through about 3 Samsung phones now back to back, which has been about the last 8 years and they are great so idk why they are getting so much hate. I had either the 1st or 2nd pixel phone prior to going Samsung and I thought it was awful. I found that I did enjoy some of the extra stuff the UI overlay builds in. For example, at least back then and may not reflect today, pixel didn’t even have a way to display battery % by default. I think you could through turning on developer options but it was not as nice. Does the Samsung UI come with a lot of stuff I don’t use? Sure but I also don’t think it impacts it negatively anyway so who cares.
Also I hate iPhone and think it is the worst UI of them all. I use it daily for my work phone and really have no idea how everyone believes its the best option there is.
I definitely love them and never knew this so thanks! I also never knew they had a jazz album? I guess I gotta go back and search. Went half way across the country last year to see them at a festival and I was not disappointed. I have seen a lot of live shows in the past 20 years and they may be one of the best that’s out there right now. Great show!
Funny, I knew it was going to be a Brother from your first post. Glad to see the confirmation. I still have am HP from like 2016 which they started doing firmware updates to lock ink to their official brand only so I couldn’t buy 3rd party. I had to roll back the firmware and removed the default gateway address to keep it from getting out to the internet and possibly updating again. I have made 1 3rd party ink purchase and been using it ever since. Printer works great still. The day it breaks will be the day I stop using HP going forward. I still can’t believe they pulled that, and now this.
Currently using liftoff but I am also waiting for the boost release. It was the only app I have used for reddit in the last 5 years. Looked really nice and I never found any issues outside maybe 1 outage which I think was caused by reddit.
I use a combo of Roku and Firesticks through the house. Since I have a raspberry pi with pihole on it all the ads and telemetry is blocked, or at least majority of it is.
