My complaint is that Ubuntu is flirting with becoming proprietary software. Don’t get me wrong they’re nowhere near closed source or such but still.
That and they have some mechanics that feel counter intuitive to me. (But that’s personal taste)
I’d choose mint then. Just because it has a more “traditional windows” (don’t think about 11, don’t think about 11,…vom) styled flow to it.

Anecdotal evidence doesn’t count but Ima use this one today: I know a guy.
Not a super tech wizard in the slightest but works with pc’s, recently told me he joined the linux camp with bazzite. I think we here on the fediverse all probably know someone who recently switched through proton/bazzite or mint/ubuntu …
And those might not all stick around, but some will.
As long as MS keeps shooting themselves in the foot and showing their allegiance to drumpelstilskin and company I’d like to think people are going to take notice.
It’s not gonna be that old lady next door but her grandson at some point probably will be coming across linux at some point.

Have been using it enthusiastically for a good while now. It’s got a nice balance between useable out of the box and having all the tweak ability.
Can’t recommend it enough.

Thanks for your free and voluntary data.
In the USA more commonly known as “somebody”.
Tech industry always: give us all your data please, we need your data to know what you want and think. Just one more piece of data please?

That’s awesome. Now to find some opportunities to share this with people.
This gives me an idea.
Sort of a questionnaire that kinda walks you through the kind of things you’ll use your machine for, what kinda hardware you have,… and then eventually gives you say 3 to four choices at the end. (So the average user can look at a few screenshots and make a choice based on that. Because let’s be honest we all choose our Linux partially with our eyes just like we listen to music).
Well fuck, another project my adhd wants to tackle but probably can’t.
