Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldtoVTubers@sh.itjust.works•Wanted to share a Japanese VTuber that came across my Youtube feed todayEnglish3·2 months agoCan’t say I vibe with her game choices (just not my thing) but it’s always fun to check out someone new. Thanks for sharing!
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldtoVTubers@sh.itjust.works•What is this communities stance on sharing VTubers we've discovered?English2·2 months agoThis could be a neat addition to the sidebar. @AioftheStorm@sh.itjust.works, @Viveltya@sh.itjust.works any objections?
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldtoVTubers@sh.itjust.works•What is this communities stance on sharing VTubers we've discovered?English3·2 months agoPersonally I’m all for it. It’s not easy to find interesting or new talents considering how big the scene is these days. Just don’t go overboard and I don’t think anyone would mind.
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldto hololive@lemmy.world•Goodbye Gura!! 🦈🔱💙 (animation)English4·2 months agoNo more pressure to do it before a deadline so… silver linings?
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldto hololive@lemmy.world•In ~8 hours: Gura's graduation 3D Mini LiveEnglish4·2 months agoThat too, it actually made me think she decided to do it live for a moment.
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldto hololive@lemmy.world•In ~8 hours: Gura's graduation 3D Mini LiveEnglish5·2 months agoIs it just me or did Gura sound really low energy throughout the whole thing? I don’t mean this as a dig or anything like that, I genuinely wonder if anyone else felt that way. It was a very raw live, both emotionally and vocally (in a good way).
Funnily enough I was too focused on the event itself I didn’t even realise it was suppose to be a MINI live - you can imagine my surprise when it ended in a blink of an eye.Either way, both the relay and graduation were great. Gonna miss the silly shark, hope she’s happy wherever she goes next.

Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldto hololive@lemmy.world•Ame will return for Kiara's Spring concert!English5·3 months agoYeah, I’m aware of the logistics behind holo’s productions (weren’t recordings for Kiara’s live suppose to happen in December or something before being delayed?). It’s just nice to see these small signs of activity considering most (?) fans expected “affiliate” to be a meaningless label with no real outcome besides hope.
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldto hololive@lemmy.world•Ame will return for Kiara's Spring concert!English7·3 months agoSo the affiliate status wasn’t just a cope?! Thank you Kiara, very nice.
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldto hololive@lemmy.world•I went to a virtual influencer's [Calli's] sold-out concert and the fan base was unlike anything I'd seenEnglish3·4 months agoBut she’s not “just” a music creator, she’s also a streamer and those with larger audiences are “influencers”, whether intentionally or not. Besides, for many people it’s just a label used for popular social media creators in general.
I don’t disagree author could’ve used a better language but that would require more familiarity with the topic and based on the article it does seem like all of this is pretty new to her (both VTubbing and JP-style fandom).
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldto hololive@lemmy.world•I went to a virtual influencer's [Calli's] sold-out concert and the fan base was unlike anything I'd seenEnglish4·4 months agoKeep in mind the core audience of Business Insider - I don’t think VTubers are a familiar concept to most of them. It’s a decent enough way to make them easily understandable, I’d say.
That’s completely understandable. Personally I’ll wait a few months before getting pessimistic about it but I am more of an archive hopper rather than someone who actively monitors for the latest news and posts so that makes it easier for me.
Eh, I don’t think it’s that bad. Mio posted 17 days ago, Ruze 14. While they are not as active as on the bird app (I assume) it’s still something. I’m sure you know how difficult it is to convince people to use a new site/app. Add the fact that it’s a pretty new addition (all of their accounts are what, 2 months old?) on top of their Twitter profiles (something they’ve been using for a long time now) and one with a way smaller audience to boot - it’s pretty normal it’ll take a while before things start moving.
The little hope I have comes from the fact that more and more companies are moving away from Twitter. Considering its turn to worse is most likely to speed up it only makes me more convinced it will happen eventually. Will it be anytime soon? Probably not, Cover is a Japanese company after all, but the mere fact they already decided to test the waters with an official domain for the few existing accounts feels like a good sign.
Worst case scenario we can always start
bullyingmessaging them about this topic, make them aware interest in their presence there does in fact exist.
Some talents already have Bluesky accounts (here’s a starter pack made by someone on the subreddit a few months ago). Not all of them post there but it’s a start.
If things go as they do at the moment I expect Cover to move, or at least mirror, their official posts there within a few months. Hopefully sooner than later.
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldtoVTubers@sh.itjust.works•Mikeneko has joined a talent agency called VAZ.English4·6 months agoWhile I don’t keep up with her religiously it seems like she was able to avoid more drama and just focused on doing her thing lately. I really hope things go well for her this time.
Happy to assist.
Not sure if this specifically is the issue here but I’ll try to explain. Ignore it if I misunderstood your confusion.
Talents/streamers are people behind the avatars, it’s a different name for the same thing.
PLs (past lives) are the personas (name and avatar) used by streamers for their activities before their currently used one (people often stop or minimize activities of a specific persona when joining an agency/going indie etc).
This news is specifically about a an agency closing. Agency is a company which takes streamers under their wing as employees/contractors, (usually) providing them with a new persona and taking care of various legal, logistical and business matters. In return they take a chunk of money streamer earns (from donations, merch, collabs with companies etc).
It was a smaller agency with rumors (?) about toxic management and other issues common for black companies. Most of the reactions I’ve seen are neither surprised nor sad about this turn of events though I do hope talents make it out alright. At least some of them will keep their IP (models and persona) and intend to keep going as indies so there’s that.
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.worldto hololive@lemmy.world•【Announcement Regarding Ceres Fauna's Graduation】English7·8 months agoYeah, this doesn’t sound great. I wonder if they can change things fast enough to avoid many more graduations at this rate. Cover is no longer a small independent anymore so it might not be that easy to do (and that’s IF they see their decisions as problematic).
I’m really curious how the next year is going to look like in that regards.
No 3D Nimi as of yet. There might be an official 3D debut before the concert but there’s nothing concrete planned at the moment (unless something changed since her announcement stream).
