For me, it was the parity system and the fact that i could mix different disk sizes and the vm + graphic card pass-through setup. Unraid helped me to start in this world.
Years later, after gaining experience on all of that and investing in dedicated pcie card and disks, I’ve moved to truenas my data and containers.
Still using unraid for the vm part. But i plan to migrate to truenas too at some point.

If you try to run the game from the windows vm yes the perf are bad.
But try to play these game from linux using wine/lutris ou protom/steam and you could be surprised
My games were running better (really better) on archlinux than windows 11. And i have also a nvidia card (RTX 3090 FE)
Make sure to check your bandwidth capacity. Streaming data to 5 people could reduce your capability to navigate on Internet if they are outside your local net as the upload speed is usually the weak point of many ISP. If you have good fiber, it won’t be a problem.

My Win11 was so bad (compared to Win10) than I’ve switched to ArchLinux. I’ve won around 10~20fps without doing anything particular (and also gain some better loading time as the nvme sequential access performance was much much better under linux).
Exactly what i did. Help also to not mix work and private life by having 2 distinct VM: one with ArchLinux for Gaming/Private apps, one with win10 for work

Bravo, very good explanation! As fun fact, i still have at work several DEC ALPHA and OpenVMS servers (some are now VM but we still have physical servers from this era managing our data) and Ctrl+C works well!
