My comment was meant to be informative to that end. I read (or maybe misread) your comment as implying that Americans are overreacting by calling him a Nazi, while I think it an apt comparison and that they are literally and intentionally using the Nazi playbook every step of the way.

He is rounding up people of a particular color using a paramilitary masked police force and without a trial sending them to a prison in another country that, for years, has been reported on as torturing and killing its prisoners

I always thought this was intentional. Apple TV doesn’t make them money, but it’s a gateway drug for you to completely move over to their ecosystem

The rest of the recommendations are pretty solid, though. I almost said something like the Game of Thrones doesn’t fit. But right now, it really does.

I’ve always wondered: When companies decide they need to look good for investors, it means to be clean and non-controversial. Why is this? Are investors old and out of touch or something?

Do they run in and take over the space when they see you going in, or did you peek in to see what shenanigans they were up to in the bathroom?

This one sounds more like the “real man” propaganda.

A real man behaves a certain way and can only wear certain clothes and do certain jobs and is respected by women.

We need our CEO to be the greediest, most unethical, unemphatic selfish prick we can get to try to gobble up as much cash for the company as possible. If we pay any less, the greedy assholes won’t apply and we might get someone who gives some of the value back to the customer

What’s sad is how true this is. Companies enshitify once they have a solid hold on the market. But if they start to slip in numbers, do they ever deshitify to regain trust and users? Fuck no, they triple down on the enshitification to make one last cash grab as they prepare to abandon ship with life preservers full of bonuses for themselves

This is where my brain went, too. Even looking at this Lemmy thread. 6 of the 10 most upvoted top level comments (including THE most upvoted) are “not meee”, “not alllll men”, defensive crap or “well she should have just…” and “even men have to deal with it toooo” like damn. We ARE fucked.

My benefit of the doubt these days is that mods were the first to abandon ship. It’s been a while since I checked in, but every community was understaffed or had new people doing everything.

The stages for high end go like this: sent to “goodwill boutique” and/or listed online. Sent to cheaper local goodwill with markdown. Added to cheap-item-Sunday (for ones that still do that). Sent to bulk outlet (where people fill a bag and pay one price for entire bag or by the pound). Finally, recyclers

So they don’t block it so much as delay I suppose. But they’ve gotten good at regionalizing their processes

But let’s also be fair, as in “I gave it to them for free out of convenience while getting rid of the stuff that I’d feel bad just throwing away”

It also says the bezels are gone, but the photo looks like massive bezels. Feel like I’m missing something
