  • I rooted my phone years ago and it was a chore. Once it finally worked, hardly any of my apps would run and nothing important worked because suddenly a rooted phone isn’t “safe”. It was such a pain in the ass to do updates and fight programs to run that I stopped. I didn’t want to spend hours fixing a device that I really didn’t want to think about.

I would love to install GrapheneOS and have it mostly just work. I hate having my phone locked down like it’s not mine, and it’s one of the reasons I won’t use it for anything important over my desktop.

  • This could be a case of them cutting multiple covers at once.

I had the same problem with jeans. I order the exact same style and size, but they don’t all fit the same. When I spoke to a Levi customer service person, they said they have multiple layers of fabric piled on top. Then the cutting blade presses down, and the fabric bends. As the top one is to short on measurements, the bottom most one is to long. So you want one in the middle.

I know paper isn’t fabric, but it could be something similar. It’s speed and efficiency over accuracy.

  • They do, but Google reduced their utility. Ads from YouTube get through my uBlock Origin, and I see ads in my search results. This was a fairly recent development, as maybe a year ago I didn’t see any ads at all on Chrome. The day I got ads punched through my blockers, is the day I quit being lazy and migrated back to Firefox.

Google has no incentive to block ads when that’s part of their revenue stream, so they nerfed third party extension’s ability to actually work at intended.
