Dont worry, I pet him so much before I had to go and after I got back. He’s a very very good boy… Even when he throws up on my bed for no reason while surrounded by perfectly good hardwood floors.

That’s so cool! How were you able to keep track of her? I’d be scared that my cat would find a mouse somewhere and get lost far away from home :(

Just keep them on a harness. They’ll get used to it.

I’ve had cats that I would gladly take camping, even without a harness. My old guy Jake would have LOVED the woods, and I’d never have to worry about him getting lost. He’d would have wandered far, but he’d always be able to find his way back to the campsite. He’d have had no interest in running away.

That’s such a valid fear! I didn’t let her walk outside. I’d put her in a pet backpack for hikes or her carrier for tent teardown and such. There was a couple times when she tried to catch things burrowing under the tent, but I keep her nails nice and short so there was no damage to the tent.

She was so much more chill about it than I expected. I had gotten some of those calming treats with melatonin, but never ended up needing them.

That black and green thing in the background is a portable litter box with a pop-up enclosure. I had her start using it about 3 weeks before the trip, just to minimize the amount of new things for her which I think also helped keep her calm
