I mean, Youtube has randomly served me up a bunch of videos of Gen Z holding cats up to the camera like that, cradling the spine in both hands, upside down, paws in the air, head dangling, jowls kind of hanging open, pointed at the camera like a super soaker. I don’t think I ever saw anyone hold a cat like that before 2025.
I do it all the time. Was born in the late 70s. I just don’t video myself doing it. Not really sure why the confusion if you don’t interact with cats often I understand not seeing this done but chill cats with chill owners end up with interesting poses… My wife’s little black hole likes to pose like a French nude model… He will catch a claw into the curtains near the window from his cat perch and roll so his legs are outstretched like michalangelos Adam and God or what’s her mcface from Titanic paint me like a French girl. But he has a horrible time of forgetting his ass. Like he will walk up to you on the edge of the couch put his front half on you and roll over to flop on one side but will roll towards the edge of everything and will fall ass first off everything…
Yeah I just…hope he doesn’t hurt her spine. She’s an adorable kitty and I know he means well for her, but it would un-knot my stomach if he’d bounce her around less like that.
I don’t think it does! I’ve asked a vet if holding a cat like a baby (on it’s back but cradled) is okay and she said it was fine as long as the cat was fine with it. So probably if the cat did mind, it would stop right quick!
