On Linux it’s usually just your desktop environment that gets wiped somehow. But if you know how to fix it, then it’s alright. Very annoying though.
Wiped? What are you talking about? Could you explain what you’re experiencing and on which distro
Multiple Debian based distros. You do an update, reboot, and your screen is black untill you press alt + f2 and then login and sudo apt install [desktop-environment]
