Have you even used a degoogled rom before? Your phone is entirely usable without Google. I use the stock dialer app with zero issues on GrapheneOS, and is supports visual voice mail just fine. Nothing proprietary.

Google has started removing support for dialer and other key components which means eventually people will moved to closed garden.
