I first saw the announcment in r/save3rdpartyapps (my only sub). The AMA is taking place at r/reddit, no time was given, just says “today”

I legitimately don’t understand what they’re hoping to gain from the AMA. Unless spez is going to start with “We were wrong, we’re rolling back the changes” then there’s nothing to be said. They ran over 3rd party apps that millions of their users use for no reason. This will be a total disaster.
Isn’t there a long long history of people thinking they can AMA their way out of a PR disaster and end up stepping in it?
Ohhhhhh, youbetcha!
There sure is, and I can’t wait to see it.
They probably don’t understand how big this issue is and think it’s just a small number of nerds who don’t matter. I think they’re taking the community for granted.
I think they’ll try to say they’ll improve the app’s accessibility, bot functionality, mod tools, something like that. It won’t work I bet
They’ve already said they’re focusing on the desktop app.
They get the stats, so they know how many users are using the various third party mobile apps. What they may not realize is how many of the moderators and content posters depend on third party apps.
