Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way.

I had a cat that hurt his tail and it had to be amputated. I believe the tail is the anntenna back to the mothership and since he didn’t have one anymore, he was no longer an agent. he did whatever he wanted. he was a WEIRD cat.

Also adopted a different cat that did not have a tail. Never had one when I got him. He was also a deeply weird cat.

Once they lose the connection, they seem to self-actualize and from what I’ve seen they all want to do strange things.

  • This seems underwhelming.

What I find to be more compelling is to use an old android as a Sendspin client. Pick an open source music server of choice like Music Assistant and now you have multiroom sync players akin to overpriced Sonos devices, you just supply the amp/speakers.

If you really like fancy audio, just connect the old phone via the USB to a nice DAC like a Fosi K11 and you have a very reasonably priced multipoint streaming solution.

  • I don’t know where the term millennial gray comes from, but it is very truthful.

It’s like a disease that infects homes they have passed though. They paint their depression all over the walls, in various shades of white, black, gray and on rare occasion, taupe.

What made these poor souls afraid of colors?

They’ve infected the cars too. Each parking lot a sea of black white and gray.

  • If you have the mobile app installed, it’s running GPS in the background anway. High accuracy mode just ups the frequency of checkin to your liking. Besides, you only need to have it on for a minute or so to determine vector. You probably already have it, but if there is any question, going high accuracy for a moment will answer it.

I don’t find that high accuracy does much to battery life as long as you’re smart with it. There are may ways to configure it so it won’t eat your battery.

  • I use home assistant and have a dashboard button that triggers an automation.

Using the notification action, I turn off do-not-disturb, turn off Bluetooth (so it doesn’t pipe sound to earbuds or remote audio), set notification mode to on (not vibrate) and set the notification volume to max. I used to loop the default notification sound, but then switched so that the notification uses a new channel entirely and set each phone with a song so it will play for a while. You can silence it with the volume key.

Took a little tinkering to get it right, but works really well.
