We really do need a “don’t hand shit out that people don’t ask for” law in the world in general. It’s such a waste for everyone involved.

I don’t bother with the stuff either, to be fair. Generally it just stops someone getting more tired, especially if it starts to be more of addiction than anything else.
But I guess it all goes back to the idea I mentioned of people being afraid of the concept of not having 100% energy at all times of day. Instead of trying to find solutions we should instead be asking why executives and fuckers like that demand unsustainable hours from people, especially as study after study shows that a four-day work week with six-hour days is hugely productive compared to what we consider normal.
I have…thoughts.
That’s the modern adult’s coffee addiction. “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my stimulant” should be getting us to ask why our work hours force so many of us to need get jacked up on caffeine just survive the morning.
Different guy here but I get it. That sounds truly heinous. There have plenty of “socially accepted” things that I just cannot get behind because it’s obviously wrong. Like, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that maybe enslaving human beings, even when your society doesn’t fully count them as such, or hitting your wife is bad.
I know a lot of stupid people who choose to be good as well. Stupid people who know to trust scientists and who want to share and all that good stuff. Then there are the violent, monkey-brained goons whose only method of communicating is unfiltered violence. The latter are pathetic in all senses and no amount of being stupid will be an adequate enough excuse for their actions.

Oddly enough, when it comes to less dense suburbs with richer people in them, the cost to the city is always more than those people pay in taxes. They pay more but they’re actually using poorer people’s taxes to pay for their shitty “neighbourhoods”, in quotes because the word implies a level of community they could only dream of.
US history programs are 95% propaganda so it’s not surprising.
Yea, because it is weird, you dolt. It’s literally just because it’s easier to say that it stuck, but it’s flatly useless. The country’s name is stupid, hard to deal with, and pretty much only the reality on the surface…much like the country itself.
I just say “US citizens”. It would probably be more accurate to say “citizens of the USA” buy my fucking god they aren’t worth that kind of effort.
If someone did a horrific thing and then told me they weren’t as guilty as their boss I’d be fairly confident saying that if their first priority was to justify their actions then they can also get absolutely fucked.
The US was never really that against them. Their motivation in WW2 was not nearly as morally perfect as they like to pretend.
I’m not going to go refind the examples, but there have been stories about things soldiers do that are definitely not ordered by anyone else. There can be a level of cruelty at times that is completely on the individual and they cannot always hide behind “I was told to”.
Yea, because that was a deflection and not what we’re talking about. You said that the US has stood for diversity but at every stage of its existence it has stood on the backs and necks of minorities and has struggled to even admit that it has a problem. Even the last admin was ok with Israel wiping out every Palestinian man, woman, and child and sure that’s across the world but if they’re chill with genocide that sets the bar LOW. And buddy have you SEEN how they disenfranchise minority voters? The gerry-mandering maps are fucking WILD. They don’t give a fuck about the people who, to them, are just cheap labour.
Also I live in Canada which beat the US to gay marriage by 10 years and is where many black people escaped the US to. We are far from perfect but at least we had a female prime minister for a few months and a brown guy with a turban leads one of our three major parties. We also have a huge homeless problem but at least they have access to healthcare, and as far as surface-deep things like restaurants are concerned we have just as much diversity in our cities as the US does(and just as much bland, franchised nonsense out of the cities). French is our official second language but the US only has English despite all its Spanish speakers and the fact that a lot of it is straight-up old Mexican territory.
Ok but how does any of that make it good? That’s being relativistic and we can do soooo much better than that, can’t we?
Do better than jerking off terrible people who are only “totally awesome” because they’re not as bad as some of the other options. Nothing is forcing them to be like that so they have no excuse, and the rest of my original point still stands that your opinion based on what you enjoyed to consume as a tourist is laughably out of touch.
That’s a lot of copium. The US has never really been a diverse place where everyone is equal, it just has very good marketing, brand recognition, and fairy open borders so people tend to move there. Plus with the world speaking so much English it’s fairly accessible.
A lot of the times that you see non-WASP culture in the US it’s just stuff that a tourist might enjoy like cheap food, music, and art, or landscapes that are actively being destroyed by weak governments. So yea, maybe the people who are there and struggling can put on a good show but that doesn’t make it a good place.
The first black person to go to public school is still alive and she’s not even that old. Being gay is still dangerous outside of cities(and even within them sometimes!). There are two different rule sets for white and coloured people that are clear to see. The rich are never punished for their crimes and that’s even when the Democrats, the best they can offer, have all the power to do something about it. They aggressively export regressive ideals to other countries, too.
It’s always sucked.
“Robot arms!”
Because they lost their limbs in an avoidable industrial mining accident because safety was too expensive.
“But look at ‘em!”
Bruh.
Trumps actions have directly impacted this, though. He loudly and proudly halted efforts to get bird flu under control and his tariffs will absolutely raw-fuck the entire country in a million ways including when it comes to the prices of gas because he’s literally put a tariff on it.
This isn’t complicated, keep up or shut up.
Except for day’s you’re sick, stuck inside, etc. Then when you get older the walking would be harder but you still gotta breathe. Plus you can still work any job you’d like since people do like to keep busy, and since it’d probably be more of a passion thing you might be hyper-focused and forget to get your walking in for the day. All the stuff I’d be doing wouldn’t have too much walking involved.
I’d take breath, it’s already more money than I could ever spend so why not make it passive?
I love these people because they are so adamant that working more will help them while every single study shows that people are way more productive when they have rest time. A 4-day work week would shoot his company’s productivity up and actually save money on things like electricity but he’s so far up his own ass that he cannot possibly understand how that could work.
I do think that the commentor who said he must not have anything outside of work has a point. Like, who on earth is has such a shit life outside of work that they can brainwash themselves into believing that more work is a solution?
Your friend is a complete idiot, an astounding failure of a human being and even as an emotionless machine.
This is 100% worse, though. Both should come with being shot in the street as punishment but at least application fees is paying for something you want and not paying to see if you even want it at all.
