It seems like an actually good alternative to activitypub. What are your thoughts?
I like how Nostr’s protocol features have been expanding, and for those you want to can receive tips. It has better support for long-text as well as markdown formatting of text, that ActivityPub has not got. It is also more censorship-resistant in that there are no handful of servers to actually block.
They have also got it right that you use one ID across any client app, so that makes your profile fully portable, and not tied to any server (of course they don’t have any servers, only relays).
That said, ActivityPub has just got W3C open standards approval for social networking. That counts for something in the longer term with the idea of trying to get more social networks to interoperate.
Thanks for the explanation. Time will tell whether or not it’s truly good. If it’s better we will probably end up there.
